Jonathan grew up in an era in the Dominican Republic marked by crime and unrest. As a child, he spent days without food sometimes and had to learn to fight to survive - literally and emotionally.
At seven, he joined a Compassion project through his local church. Change didn’t come quickly. He got into frequent fights and was nearly expelled - until one day, a staff member named Dulce told him, “You don’t have to fight. We love you.”
That simple act of grace changed everything.
Today, Jonathan works with Compassion, speaking up for children living through what he once did.
