Running along side the Home fleet and visiting Locomotives Class 14 D9525,Class 33 – 33103 and Class 55 No. D9015 "Tulyar"

So with the Weekend coming to a close, we mark the end of operations on the Great Central Railway for Class 101 (Blue) – 50266/50203 after many years of service.
The Unit will now be stand down and retire making way for Class 101 (Green) – 51427/50321 to take over the mantle.
Normal DMU's dont get much attention but do a very important job getting our Heritage railways running.
50266/50203 has done the Railway proud and credit to Renaissance Railcars - Great Central Diesel Railcar Group for keeping her in fantastic operation.
Filmed and pictures over many years at the railway and will be missed.

Well thats my ticket to the Keightley and Worth Valley Railway Diesel Gala Day 3 Booked. See you there on the 20th of June 2026 for my first official Visit to a new heritage Railway.
Cant wait and looking forward to seeing all the Diesel Locomotives in Action.

Its another #throwbackfriday day and this time its Class 50 No. 50017 "Royal Oak" seen at the Great Central Railway Spring Diesel Gala 2025 with a service to Leicester North from Loughborough Central.
Class mate BR Class 50 No. 50049 “Defiance” is due to be a Guest star at the Upcoming Keightley and Worth Valley Railway Return of the Diesel Gala on 18th-21st June 2026.

Today at the Great Central Railway Sulzar Running Day the Diesel's roared and the sun was out, what more could you ask for.
With the Relaunch of Class 33 No.33116/D6535 “Hertfordshire Rail Tours” taking the spotlight with a successful welcome back into service after it's cosmetic overhaul.
With Class 26 No.26043 making it's last appearance before returning to Gloucestershire and Warwickshire Steam Railway want to send a massive thank you to the Cotswold Mainline Diesel Group for letting the Locomotive come the the Great Central.
Long standing residents Class 45 D123 from the 5305 Locomotive Trust and Class 27 No.27056 from the Northampton Type 2 Group giving us extra GCR horsepower today.
A wonderful day all round.

So Last night was able to get some pictures of the New Resident to the Great Central Railway the Class 104 DMU from Birmingham RailCar Workgroup along side long term Resident Class 101 DMU from Renaissance Railcars - Great Central Diesel Railcar Group
Great to see the two different Generation's of Diesel Multiple Units along side each other.
First day in service should be the Railcar Day on Saturday 17th July (Subject to a B exam, and a vacuum cylinder repair) the Class 104 and Class 101 will be seen along side each for first time.
