Summary: Kīlauea volcano is not erupting; the summit eruption in Halemaʻumaʻu is paused. Data indicate the onset of the next fountaining episode is likely between August 24 and August 28.

Overview:
The summit eruption of Kīlauea in Halemaʻumaʻu is paused. Data from summit tiltmeters shows deflation continues this morning, following the pattern of deflationary steps observed before previous episodes. Glow was observed on webcams from the north and west vents overnight. Inflation models suggest that another episode is likely between Monday August 24 and Friday August 28.
WARNING: NWS forecasts the nearby tropical storm system may cause potential torrential rains today and tomorrow. Overlap with an eruption may create extreme conditions not suitable for viewing.

AST tilt is at a point where anything can happen there’s still room for improvement in the tilt graph 📈 as the data shows that the next fountain stage is set between Saturday 22nd through Wednesday 26th

All of Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park, including USGS HVO facilities, remain without power since Hurricane Lala.
No significant activity has been noted along Kīlauea’s East Rift Zone or Southwest Rift Zone.
USGS HVO continues to experience sporadic outages due to power and possible storm damage related to Hurricane Lala.
