The Labyrinth of Limitations

The inaugural Labyrinth Live workshop is happening this weekend!
A 90-minute Zoom session open to all musicians interested in jazz improvisation.

We’ll explore beautiful ways of moving through ii–V7 progressions using the Labyrinth of Limitations approach — a hands-on, process-based way to develop fluency and creativity.

You can play along or just observe — no prior experience with the Labyrinth method required.
All you need is your instrument and curiosity.

The Labyrinth of Limitations

I accidentally posted the wrong video earlier today—it was an older Short with a new title 😅 I’ve taken it down and will be sharing the real new one tomorrow.

Thanks for your patience—and for being here 💛

The Labyrinth of Limitations

I am THRILLED to share that Chris Parks of ‪@thingsivelearnedfrombarryh2616‬ and I will be giving a MONTHLY zoom class together. This is part of my weekly zoom class package on Patreon, with the 4th class of each month being a LoL and TILFBH Crossover. Chris is such an inspiration, and his 30+ years of learning directly from Barry Harris make him an incredible resource. I'm so glad he's going to be contributing to the LoL community on a regular basis🤘. The next class with Chris will new THIS SUNDAY, September 22nd at 12pm CST [UTC -5}

Our first go at this was last month, and it was such a blast that we've decided to put it on the books as a regular thing! This is in addition to the regular offerings: a full course of Lessons and PDFs, interactive web apps, community discussion, and more.

If you'd like to enroll in class, head over to www.patreon.com/labyrinthoflimitations

The Labyrinth of Limitations

Wow! The Labyrinth of Limitations just passed 8,000 subscribers! To celebrate, I'm offering Foundations 1 as a free bonus to new Patreon members at the Collaborator (and above) tier. Foundations 1: Polyphony is the 62-page book for the LoL core curriculum. Since the beginning of February, I've been expanding Patreon into an online course for polyphonic jazz improvisation, alongside a supportive global community --so this is a 2-for-1 deal! Just message the word "foundations" in patreon to claim the offer:)

Offer expires this Sunday (April 14th, 2024) at 11:59 pm UTC

The Labyrinth of Limitations

I've begun using a new feature in Patreon that allows me to upload videos directly to my Patreon subscribers! I'm making sketches of little things that I'm practicing on any given day. It seems like this could be a new way of engaging with Labyrinth folks that is a bit more nuanced. People at the scholar level are invited to give me suggestions of things to discuss, and I'll give a little shout out to whoever gave the request:) What do you think of this idea? I'll of course continue Labyrinth episodes like normal, but these will usually be about 5 minutes long and just dealing with a particular little thing 😉
