📚 For readers who care less about reading more, and more about reading well.
Angela’s Bookcase is a space for building a reading life that lasts, shaped by attention, depth, and care rather than trends.
Here, I explore literary and historical fiction, along with books across genres that share those same qualities. I reflect on what makes a book worth our time, and share the analogue systems that help me read slowly and with intention.
Based in Australia, the channel moves with a seasonal reading rhythm across both hemispheres, with thoughtful recommendations throughout the year and a continued focus on Australian authors alongside a wider literary landscape.
You’ll find thoughtful recommendations, intentional reading projects, and reflections on the kinds of books that linger, that ask something of us, and that are worth returning to.
New videos weekly.

I’ve been reading 'Bitter Honey' on and off since November. It may be one of the slowest reading experiences I’ve ever had but somehow it feels right. A book I keep dipping back into rather than rushing to finish. Do you ever have books that unfold like that for you?

For those reading The Labyrinth in our readalong this month, how are you finding it so far? Has anything surprised you about the story?
Someone in our readalong described it as sitting by a campfire at night and I have to agree. The storytelling is mesmerising. I’m reading it very slowly and really enjoying taking my time with it.

What’s one book where the characters stayed with you long after you finished?
I’m still thinking about Cathy from East of Eden. Such a unique and unsettling character. I'd love to revisit the book one day and see if I feel differently about her.

In my February reading wrap-up I mentioned that I only had one more book by Hannah Kent left to read.
Well… I slipped and fell and I’m now almost finished The Good People 😅 It’s surprisingly different from her other books.
When you discover an author you love, do you tend to read all their books at once or spread them out over time?

The summer days over Christmas and New Year was exactly the rest and reset I needed and I am so motivated for an exceptional reading year ahead! Happy New Year, friends! I’ll be back very soon x
