My name is Gus and I make videos about Open Source stuff, mostly. Darktable, Blender, FreeCAD, etc.
Photography and Digital Imagery is my main focus.
I'm a lapsed Product Designer, who was pretty into rendering and 3D Visualisations, mainly using Blender (and modelling, mainly using FreeCAD)
Hope you enjoy my trip through the jungle of Digital Colour, where I try to find the tools that help me push my pixels to the next level!

Sorry about the lack of videos lately. I've been super busy developing Saulala, which means I've been learning new things and realising just how much I don't actually understand yet. The last year was really eye-opening.
If you're still interested in what's happening with Saulala, I've now set up a Discourse (Previously on Discord, but seeing that Discord is 'going down' with the rest of private social media, I had to move to an Open Source platform)
It's still quiet, but if you're keen on what's been happening with Saulala, come on over!:

Hello, viewer.
Long time no see.
It so happens that I have been a bit... distracted lately. For a good reason, hopefully.
I've been working on an app! For those who follow me on Mastodon - this post will contain no new information.
For the rest of you, I need your advice.
So the app is a simple image developing app. It takes the camera-native .dng file, and uses OCIO (AgX for now) to output a .jpg, giving you a few sliders to do some minor adjustments.
It will be based on all the concepts I talk in my videos.
Currently it's (barely) running on Android, and it should run on iOS later on.
Now, is this something you would be interested in seeing on my channel? Since it's a smartphone app, the aspect ratio is not ideal for normal YouTube content, but it might work for shorts.
I could post short development updates, since I upload them to YouTube (set to Unlisted, only for sharing at the moment.)
What do you think?

If you are a FreeCAD user, I suggest you give Plasticity a good go. It's being developed by an indie developer, and is a one-time-purchase (version-based purchases). Currently it starts at $99.
It is intuitive, modern, fast, smooth, solid-modeller with Parasolid kernel. It already has a Blender-link in development. What @nickkallen1 has achieved in a few years is almost magical. Plasticity feels like it is inviting you to model, which I cannot say about FreeCAD.
If you are a Product Designer or a Hard-Surface modeller, I can think of no better tool. (And I have used Fusion360 since closed Alpha).

Since all the major social networks owned by billionaires are sinking like a bag of bricks, I'm jumping ship to Mastodon!
If you're there - give me a follow and let's chat!
