Years ago, this picture made us laugh because it looked like Calvin was saying, “Hang on, bro… I got this!” Looking back now, those words couldn’t be more true.
Today, Calvin truly is Miles’ superhero.
He watches over his big brother, makes sure he’s safe, and is always ready to help without being asked. Whether they’re at the playground, walking together, or simply spending time as brothers, Calvin has a heart full of love and patience for Miles.
Miles is autistic, and life brings unique challenges, but one of God’s greatest blessings to our family is seeing the incredible bond these two share. They may not always communicate the same way, but their love for each other speaks louder than words.
As parents, we couldn’t be prouder. Watching Calvin grow into such a caring, protective brother reminds us that kindness, compassion, and unconditional love are some of life’s greatest gifts.
To Calvin thank you for being Miles’ superhero.
And to Miles thank you for teaching all of us what unconditional love looks like.

To every parent raising a child with special needs…
There are moments that keep us awake at night. Not because we don’t love our children enough, but because we love them so deeply.
One question quietly stays in our hearts:
“What will happen to my special child after I’m gone?”
As the parent of an autistic son, this thought crosses my mind more often than I want to admit. I pray that he will always be surrounded by people who see his value, respect his dignity, protect him, and love him for who he is.
Our children deserve more than our love today. They deserve a future where they are accepted, included, safe, and given every opportunity to live meaningful lives.
If you’re a parent who carries this same worry, please know you’re not alone. Many of us share this fear, this hope, and this determination to prepare the best future we can for our children.
Let’s continue to advocate, educate, and build communities that will still stand beside our children long after we’re no longer here.
Because every special child deserves a lifetime of love, compassion, and belonging.

Today in Monroe City, Missouri, our family had the honor of walking in the 2026 Independence Day Parade on the Democratic float—celebrating freedom, community, and the spirit that continues to make this country strong.
As we look around, we are reminded that America is more than just a place—it is 250 years of courage, sacrifice, hope, and the shared dream of freedom for all. 🇺🇸
We proudly shared flyers and handed out American flags in support of Rich Gold, candidate for Missouri House Representative, District 43, and encouraged our community to vote NO on Amendment 4 & Amendment 5. It was a blessing to meet so many kind and welcoming people along the parade route.
Today wasn’t just about celebration—it was about unity. Smiles, handshakes, waving flags, and neighbors coming together reminded us how powerful community truly is.
We are deeply grateful for this opportunity and for everyone who showed love, support, and encouragement. Moments like this remind us why we celebrate Independence Day: to honor our past, cherish our present, and build a stronger future together.
May God continue to bless Monroe City, Paris, Shelbyville, Mexico, Madison, Center, and all Missouri communities, and may He continue to bless the United States of America.
