β˜€οΈ Sun's out, and that means volunteers are out! Despite the warming summer temps, dozens of volunteers worked together to protect the new plots at Abalone Cove Reserve, which were just planted this April! The native plants are still young, and need the help of volunteers to make sure they can grow strong, without the interference of pesky invasive weeds like Black Mustard or Silverleaf Nightshade. 🌱🚫

πŸ‘‰ Check out pvplc.org/volunteer to discover future volunteering events, which happen nearly every weekend!

❓What is Rapid Response and why is it important? Rapid Response outings are crucial in restoring and maintaining our local trails. At these volunteering days, you work together with locals to learn new skills about trail work; we repair signage and fences, clear brush, maintain trail surfaces and more! πŸ› οΈ

πŸ¦‹ By joining us for Rapid Response days, which are on Fridays and Saturdays, 9 AM to Noon, you provide a safer environment for both hikers and wildlife!

Our next Rapid Response is this Saturday at the Rolling Hills Little League Baseball Field! tinyurl.com/RapidResponseSaturday

The PVPLC's monthly Moon Walks are a fun way to explore nature, but at nighttime! For the June Moon Walk, families and friends played games and explored the George F. Canyon Trail and all it had to offer, including scorpions, which can glow in the dark! Hikers learned what it was like for some animals at night by playing interactive games -- many animals have to use other senses besides vision to get around!
