Contested Form 7s rejected, no bulk filings: Telangana DEO
Election officials in Telangana on Monday, October 5, said Form 7 applications allegedly submitted in bulk in the Goshamahal and Musheerabad assembly constituencies here were rejected.
Form 7 is a voter application form for objection to the proposed inclusion or deletion of a name in the existing electoral roll.

The ruling Congress and Asaduddin Owaisi-led AIMIM accused the BJP of submitting bulk Form 7 applications which the latter rejected.
Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner and District Election Officer R. V. Karnan told PTI that the Form 7 applications were not received in bulk but in much smaller numbers.

In Goshamahal, the applicant did not sign the submitted forms, making them ineligible for consideration. In Musheerabad, one Balachander submitted Form 7 against 30 electors, but Karnan said they were found residing on the premises.
Alleging that BJP activists were attempting to remove the names of Muslim voters from electoral rolls by submitting Form 7 during SIR, AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi on Sunday warned of a stir stronger than the one at Jantar Mantar in Delhi.
Telangana Congress has complained to the state Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), C Sudharshan Reddy, that Balachander, who submitted the Form 7 applications in Musheerabad, belongs to the BJP.

Observing that the Form 7 applications submitted by Balachander were an attempt to unlawfully seek deletion of names of genuine electors, Congress sought legal action in the matter.

Congress sources said they had no knowledge of an alleged video showing a Booth Level Officer (BLO) in Goshamahal rejecting Form 7 applications.

Commercial LPG gets costlier from October 1.

Oil marketing companies have increased the price of 19-kg commercial LPG cylinders across major cities, with the hike ranging from ₹62.50 to ₹71.50 per cylinder.

Meanwhile, 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder prices remain unchanged.

For restaurants, hotels, bakeries, caterers and other businesses, the increase could add to operating costs during the festive season.

Food safety crackdown on quick-commerce dark stores in Hyderabad

Telangana's food safety authority TG SAFE inspected 16 dark stores operated by Swiggy Instamart, Flipkart, Zepto and Dropx Logistics.

Officials reported finding expired and damaged food, pest infestation, fungal growth on vegetables, poor storage conditions and other hygiene violations.

As a result, the FSSAI licences of four stores were suspended and they were ordered to stop operations immediately. Authorities also collected 15 food samples over suspected adulteration, while other establishments received improvement or show-cause notices.

For consumers, TG SAFE has advised checking expiry dates, packaging and the condition of food items upon delivery.

Hyderabad Task Force teams conducted raids at cosmetics shops and medical stores in Habeeb Nagar on Thursday, October 1.
The raids were conducted following allegations of selling products carrying “Made in Pakistan” labels.

The joint operation was carried out near Nampally Government Hospital under the Habeeb Nagar Police Station limits. Task Force teams from Rajendranagar, Shamshabad and Golconda took part in the operation under the leadership of In-charge DCP KS Rao.
During the initial inspections, cosmetics carrying “Made in Pakistan” labels were found at some shops.
Authorities also identified some businesses that were allegedly operating without valid licences. Inspections are continuing at several establishments in the area.
As part of the operation, the officials are currently checking the shops and medical stores.
Further details about any items seized, cases registered and action taken by the authorities are awaited.

The Ujjain Police have arrested 20 people and registered first information reports (FIRs) against 30 in connection with Monday’s violent clash that broke out following the removal of a portion of Shahi Masjid.

It has been almost a week since thousands of local Muslims began their protests against the demolition of the 600-year-old mosque, with the Ujjain Municipal Corporation maintaining it is a part of a road-widening project ahead of the 2028 Simhastha fair.
On Monday (September 28), the peaceful protests turned violent, with stones being pelted at the police and security personnel firing tear gas to disperse the crowd.
Some volunteers from the mosque committee began demolishing three feet of the mosque’s hanging slab to prevent the bulldozer action.
Two weeks ago, the Madhya Pradesh High Court dismissed petitions against municipal notices to remove part of the mosque, filed by groups administering the Waqf property, Shahi Masjid Waqf Panchayat Mochiyaan. The Muslim side will now knock the doors of the Supreme Court, which, locals say, is exactly why the administration wants the mosque down before a stay can be granted.

A Hyderabad-born woman and an Osmania University alumna has become the Mayor of Strathfield Council in Sydney, Australia.
Sandhya Reddy, or Sandy Reddy, as she is locally known, was elected mayor of Strathfield Council in Sydney, Australia, on Tuesday, September 29. She will serve as mayor till September 2028.

Reports suggest she is the first Indian-born migrant woman to serve as a mayor in Australia.
Reddy’s roots lie in Mallareddygudem in Mominpet mandal of Vikarabad district. In Hyderabad, she studied at the Stanley College and did her law from the Osmania University before moving to Australia in 2005.

She worked as an immigration lawyer and later became involved in community and civic affairs. Her journey in the local politics started with her election as a councillor in Strathfield in 2021.

In 2023, she became the first Indian woman to be elected the deputy mayor of Strathfield.
In the 2024 local elections, she retained her council seat.

After resuming office as deputy mayor in September 2025, she served in the role until her election as mayor.

Flydubai flight diverted to Saudi Arabia after cockpit incident

A Flydubai flight travelling from Dubai to Tel Aviv was diverted to Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, after an incident involving the pilots triggered emergency signals onboard.

The aircraft transmitted 7700, followed by 7500, prompting a security response and initial fears of a possible hijacking. Israeli authorities later said the incident followed a physical altercation between the two pilots and was not believed to be a hijacking.

The aircraft landed safely in Tabuk, with passengers and crew reported safe. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
