Hyderabad: The Telangana Public Service Commission (TGPSC) has ordered a probe after original optical mark recognition (OMR) sheets from a recruitment examination were found strewn in heaps on a roadside in Hyderabad.
The OMR sheets, from the 2018 examination for the recruitment of Hostel Welfare Officers, were found on Saturday, July 25, along the stretch from Shivampalli to the Arranghar underpass on the PVNR Expressway.

A video of the incident showed a police official gathering the sheets from the roadside, with the visuals suggesting that people were also picking up the documents, which contained sensitive details such as candidate names, hall ticket numbers, paper codes and invigilators’ signatures.
Ordinarily, OMR sheets are torn into small pieces once an examination is over, before being sent as scrap for recycling. In this case, however, it appears the norms were not followed, with the sheets being transported to Vijayawada for recycling without first being shredded.

According to the Hyderabad Mail, TGPSC secretary R Sumathi said the commission had directed the Superintendent of Police in the area to investigate the incident and submit a report within three days.

“The papers were transported in white plastic bags. It appears the bags were not tied properly, so some OMR sheets fell onto the road. As the records had already been marked for destruction, we did not file a police complaint. However, we ordered an internal inquiry,” she said.
Sumathi said those found negligent would face action based on the report.

New Delhi: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Saturday, July 25, has submitted his resignation to the Prime Minister over the NEET irregularities amid the ongoing nationwide protests.
Security arrangements have been intensified further across the national capital ahead of the weekend, with Delhi Police installing additional layers of barricades at key locations and reinforcing them with heavy-duty chains to prevent attempts to breach security cordons, officials said on Saturday.
The move follows the raging protest in Delhi by the CJP, demanding reforms in the examination system and the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the NEET paper leak, with police expecting a larger turnout of protesters through the weekend.
According to police sources, multiple rows of iron barricades have been placed on the sensitive stretches in the New Delhi district, particularly in and around the Jantar Mantar protest site and other strategic locations.
Apart from physical barricading, surveillance and security measures have also been enhanced across the city.

Hyderabad: The Election Commission of India has revised the schedule for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Telangana and extended the house-to-house enumeration deadline to August 3.
Previously, the house-to-house visits by Booth Level Officers were to be undertaken till July 24.

Rationalization/rearrangement of polling stations will be done by August 3, and the draft voter lists will be released on August 10.
Voters can file their objections from August 10 till September 9. All objections must be disposed by October 8 after which the final voter lists will be published on October 12.

No urgency, thanks: SC refuses to hear PIL seeking complete ban on cow slaughter
New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Tuesday, May 26, refused to grant urgent hearing of a public interest litigation (PIL) seeking effective implementation of the law imposing a complete ban on cow slaughter ahead of Bakrid.
“You remembered this a day before. No urgency. Thanks,” said a bench of Chief Justice of India Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi.
Advocate Barun Kumar Sinha mentioned the matter before the bench, seeking an urgent hearing. “We are seeking a hearing so that if your lordships are persuaded, an interim order can be passed,” he orally submitted.
“Day after tomorrow is Bakrid. This is a plea to seek implementation of anti-cow slaughter law. If this can be listed tomorrow,” Sinha said.
The plea, filed by Satish Kumar Aggarwal, former vice-president of the Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha, seeks directions to enforce anti-slaughter laws to protect the cow and its progeny from slaughter. It also wants a direction to state governments to notify guidelines for regulating slaughterhouses in each and every state in accordance with law.
