This Blended House
In September 2021, we (Shirley and Dustin) publicly joined our families together (Shirley with 5 kids and Dustin with 2 and in July of 2022 we welcomed our bridge baby) and embarked on a journey of blending which included highs and lows, chaos and beauty, redemption, healing and grace. Our counselor told us it would be the hardest thing we ever did. And though loving each other has come easy, the rest has proven his words to be true. Lifelong nuclear families should always be the goal. Full stop. Throughout time they have been, and are, the bedrock of human society. That is our hope and prayer for each of our 8 kids. However, step families are becoming more and more prevalent and now make up a large portion of families in today's society. With God's help, we believe they have the potential to be beautiful representations of His redemptive power and grace.

I just wrapped up teaching kindergarten for the last time! 7 years! (2 in a classroom setting and 5 with my own babies at home) I hope this helps some mamas who are beginning their homeschool journey 🍎😘

I can’t believe we are entering our 8th year of homeschooling! Today, I am sharing our new schedule for the upcoming year and how I’ll be juggling 5 kids ages 6-12 who will be entering grades 1st - 7th. You can do it, mama! ❤️👊🏼
