Authority in the spirit is not a title you carry; it is a life you live. You cannot command demons when your own appetites command you. The throne of spiritual power is built on the altar of self-control. If the flesh still dictates your choices, your words will carry no weight in the spirit. Those who walk in authority have conquered themselves in the secret place before confronting the enemy in public. They are men and women who say “no” to sin when no one is watching and “yes” to God even when it costs everything. This discipline crucifies the flesh and enthrones the spirit, making you a vessel through which God’s power can flow unhindered.

Imagine how David felt when he was chosen to face Goliath. It made no sense to the natural mind. A young shepherd standing before a trained warrior looked like a mismatch, yet heaven was not watching size, experience or armour. Heaven was watching alignment. God never calls a man into a battle without equipping him for victory.

David could have interpreted the situation as an attack rather than an assignment. But men of the Spirit discern purpose even in intimidating seasons. What you carry may look small in the eyes of men, but when the breath of God rests on it, it becomes a weapon that cannot fail. Scripture says in Zechariah 4 that it is not by might nor by power but by the Spirit of the Lord.

Your sling may look insignificant. Your resources may appear inadequate. Your experience may seem too little for the mountain before you. But God’s favour on a small tool is greater than the armour of giants. God specialises in using what men call little to shame the strength of the mighty.

This is why you must refuse the intimidation of your circumstances. Speak faith. Declare what God has said. Philippians 4 reminds us that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. Every giant is only a platform for the manifestation of divine ability.

David did not win because he was skilled. He won because he was chosen. When God chooses a man, the battle is already determined. Your responsibility is to step forward in obedience, knowing that grace has gone ahead of you.

Stop talking yourself out of your destiny. Start talking yourself into the promises of God. The more you agree with heaven, the more your spirit aligns with victory. Faith is the language that unlocks divine interventions.

The giant may be big, but God’s word is bigger. The opposition may look overwhelming, but you are not standing alone. The Lord of hosts is backing you, equipping you and empowering you to triumph.

Stand firm. Step forward. The same God who crowned David’s sling with power will crown your obedience with victory.
