✨ Chapter Complete! ✨  Book 2:  Jennalyn's Bayanihan Adventure; Chapter 5:  A Gathering in the Province

I just finished the illustrations for my chapter set in Sapian, Capiz, and doing the research for this place truly filled my heart with pride. 🌾💛 Learning about the land, the people, and the stories behind it reminded me why this work means so much to me.

And during my research, something really special popped up—my cousin from the UK, @MilesRoldan 🇬🇧🇵🇭

Miles was born in South London to Filipino parents who immigrated to the UK in the 1970s. Like so many of our families, his parents worked incredibly hard in a new country full of opportunity, building a life for their children through sacrifice and determination.

Now, decades later, Miles has created a platform documenting his journey of returning to his parents’ homeland—the Philippines. His YouTube channel honestly shares the ups, the downs, and everything in between as he adjusts to life in the PI, the beautiful places, and the warmth of the people.

In just 2 years, he’s grown his channel to 1.5K subscribers—organically and authentically—and I couldn’t be more proud of him. 👏🏽✨

Feeling truly honored to be invited as a guest author at Fred Williams Elementary School in Oxnard for the 2nd meeting of their newly formed Filipino-Asian Parent Council. Seeing my name on the class itinerary was a moment I’ll always cherish.

Even more meaningful was reconnecting with my Channel Islands High School Yearbook Club alum sister—now an amazing educator at Fred Williams. Huge thanks to Ms. Missy Hernandez for the invitation and for fostering such a welcoming space for culture, storytelling, and community.

Experiences like this are a powerful reminder that representation matters, stories matter, and community truly comes full circle.

Since publishing my book, I’ve been overwhelmed with such wonderful and encouraging feedback. One of the most meaningful blessings that came from it was being asked to serve as a judge for the Camarillo Youth Project 2026 Art Show!

It was especially touching because the event was held at a military facility I had no idea even existed—such a beautiful space. Being there carried a deep personal honor and remembrance of my dad, which made the experience even more special.

Thank you, Giselle, for inviting me to participate. I truly hope my book reaches military families and helps encourage creativity, confidence, and imagination in the young minds of our community.

Reposting this because I have to give so much love and gratitude to HARIBON - the Philippine Eagle 🦅🤎

While writing this book, learning about the Philippine Eagle was by far one of the most impactful and emotional parts of reconnecting with my culture and history. Including this majestic eagle in my story felt incredibly empowering—and honestly, it became my favorite chapter.

That iconic crown of feathers, like a fierce mohawk, symbolizes power, resilience, and strength to me. It represents the pride and spirit of the Philippines in such a beautiful way. I’m so honored to celebrate and share him in my book.
