Hey there, I'm Colou. This is my second channel where I upload a bunch of music-related stuff which, at the moment, mainly consists of videogame music restorations.
I know this is going to be disappointing to some of you, but I've decided today to unlist all of my old GBAMusRipper soundtrack rips. This is something I've been wanting to do for a long time now, but I never got around to for some reason or another. There are a couple main reasons why I've decided to do this:
For one, the soundtrack rips are just...bad. I knew when I made the rips initally that the GBAMusRipper rips weren't totally accurate to the original songs, but I don't think I realised just *how* inaccurate they were. Instruments (especially PSG instruments) often have messed up ADSR envelope values, inaccurate effects (like reverb/vibrato), and are sometimes just missing entirely.
Overall, they're just not good representations of these soundtracks, and I don't want people listening to these rips thinking the songs are *supposed* to sound like this. Especially since some of these rips (like the Pokémon and Simpsons Road Rage rips) are some of the most popular rips on YouTube right now.
I also don't really like having these low quality soundtrack rips sitting next to my restoration projects, which I've put a *lot* more effort into and and are projects that I'm actually proud of (well, most of them at least). I feel they kinda make the restorations look bad by association.
There's also the worry that these soundtrack rips could get my YouTube channel copyright striked, or potentially even deleted, which I obviously don't want. While the same could obviously happen to my restorations, those are at least *somewhat* transformative (they're more like very accurate covers) compared to soundtrack uploads which are a definite no-no in Nintendo's eyes.
For those of you looking for a high quality version of the Pokémon Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald soundtrack, I recommend you instead check out the Pokémon Emerald soundtrack remaster by Kurausukun/Church of Kondo, since it's both more accurate *and* higher quality than my crappy rip. It can be found here: www.youtube.com/playlist?list... (alongside remasters for other Pokémon games like FireRed/LeafGreen and Diamond/Pearl/Platinum, which is cool).
I'll also link the unlisted playlists for all the GBAMusRipper rips here, for those who still want them:
