Jimmy McKanna - RT Clinic

I've been a Respiratory Therapist since 2007. I love the specialized and focused nature of an RT's assessment skills. I hope these videos will benefit you and ultimately your patients.

Decreasing venous return and lowering blood pressure are usually negative effects of positive pressure ventilation. In the case of cardiogenic pulmonary edema, decreasing venous return can be therapeutic. This is a new concept for many clinicians, including myself.  @rtclinic

Here's the comparison of the cannula diameters and flowrate related to set pressure on the V60. See my last video for more details. This was a fun project!

Jimmy McKanna - RT Clinic

It was an honor to meet one of the great forerunners of our profession, Bob Kacmarek RRT Ph.D. Dr. Kacmarek's research has changed many concepts of mechanical ventilation drastically over the last thirty years. He is one of the authors of our main respiratory textbook and an extremely knowledgable, yet very humble man. Dr. Kacmarek took many questions from RTs and RT students after his presentations putting him at the end of the lunch line. He didn't want to cut ahead although he had a timeline to meet. #servantleadership
