Al Gore is ineligible and stuff. Vice President Biden is long speculated as a candidate but decides not to run this time. I honestly donβt feel like giving a synopsis. These are our two candidates.
After long speculation of a potential run, failed 1980 Presidential candidate Bob Dole announces his run for the republican nomination. He rises to frontrunner status, but receives criticism surrounding his age and old fashioned ideas. He faces opposition from THE Pat Buchanan and Forbes family member Malcom Stevenson Forbes Jr., who you can just call Steve.
Incumbent Democratic President Al Gore and VP Joe Biden seek reelection against Arizona Senator and former Prisoner of War John McCain, who was a compromise candidate as a result of the party uniting against Buchanan. After Buchanan's loss, many were wondering if he would stay on the ballot as an independent candidate, to which Buchanan refused, although expressed interest in running again in the future. John McCain was a prisoner of war, who was held in North Vietnam for years, being refused treatment for severe injuries on numerous occasions. McCain chooses Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley (yes, the one still holding the seat today) as his running mate. The two make for a strong ticket, travelling across the country in an attempt to increase voter turnout. Al Gore runs on his own record and the more unified Democratic party.
After the subsequent announcements that George Bush and Bob Dole wouldn't be seeking the republican nomination for President, the only other nominee who expressed interest was THE Pat Buchanan. With a lack of options, Senator John McCain hesitantly threw his own hat in the ring to prevent Pat Buchanan from being chosen as the nominee.
Incumbent President Al Gore runs for renomination, but faces some mild competition against former US Senator Paul Tsongas, but it still favored to win.
Incumbent President Jerry Brown loses renomination to Senator Al Gore of Tennessee, who keeps incumbent Vice President Joe Biden on the ticket as Vice President. Former CIA director, congressman, and failed VP candidate George Bush wins the republican nomination and chooses a Senator who can't spell potato as his running mate.
After long speculation of an '88 run, Bob Dole silenced the rumors and announced he would not be running for President in 1988, focusing on his work in the Senate. News commentator Pat Buchanan and former US congressman George Bush rose to be the 2 front runners.
Jerry Brown has had mixed approval ratings throughout his first term. He's moved the country in a much more liberal, environmental conscious direction. Progressives overwhelmighly approved of his agenda, while conservative and moderate voters were turned off, and that's not even getting into foreign affairs. Nonetheless, Jerry still decides to seek a second full term. He's faced with worthy competition, however, with Al Gore, Jesse Jackson, and even his own Vice President Joe Biden launching campaigns against him. Biden, however, dropped out just 3 months into the campaign and endorsed Brown.
After the assassination of President Kennedy on September 14, 1983, Jerry Brown took office with record high approval ratings, uniting the country against violence in America. He selected Delaware Senator Joe Biden as his Vice President, and kept him as a running mate for the election. Congressman John B. Anderson became the first Write-In candidate in history to win a major party nomination. He chooses Senator Jake Garn as running mate.
