Hello and welcome! I just make videos with Oscilloscopes and MIDIs.

My goal for this channel is to improve and become better at doing oscilloscope deconstruction, and my overall goal is to make oscilloscope deconstruction for all types of sequenced music, wether it be console or computers.

I do accept requests for the following (I’ll update it as I find ways to get sequenced music/MIDIs on different consoles/computer games)

NES/SNES
GameBoy (some of them)
Nintendo 64
GameCube/Wii (if you know that the game has sequenced music, I’ll look into it.)

Mr. Oscilloscope

You guys ever wondered why I haven’t done Hyrule Field yet for OoT?

This is why. 21 different files I need to identify before I can even think about anything. It’s Hilarious and annoying. One of these days I’ll take a look and give people less of a hard time and show what part is what. In other words, filenames!

So not wanting to get burnt out doing just one oscilloscope, decided to go ahead and try to find the Windows/Roland sound library that Media player uses.

Not only did I find it (it's called gm.dls, located in C:\Windows\System32\drivers) and converted it into an .sf2 (using viena), but apparently after some research online there's also hidden Midi files as well, located in C:\Windows\Media. You'll find only 3 midi files in newer versions of windows so find the rest on your own (hint: Electronic Library of Alexandria)

Knowing how 90s Nintendo Games like Super Mario 64 uses a very similar sounding library (likely because it's also from Roland iirc), this is so cool.

Hm. New video today or tomorrow. I admit the oscilloscopes are a tad windy coming up.

Sorry y'all, looks like I have a slight change of plans, oops. Oh well, I guess there's always my Pokemon requests, SNES requests, and the second most popular console that won the poll.

Sometimes I really hate using older computers, but since my newer one is still broken, this will have to do. Genuinely didn't think I'd have this problem until when I now reinstall the tools.

And I am now accepting requests, keep in mind though I am fixing up some of my older videos since most of them are not exactly..... great. Like either I ripped it wrong, channels are incorrect, wrong sample, etc.

After the next video I'm releasing, what console would you like me to look into for the following video?

The one with the most votes I will look into the requests I already have and choose one.

Well I’m back! The latest video explains my absence again lol.

This video is a bit different than the others: it’s actually a warmup I played when I was in band this year and I wanted to use this as a way to get back into making oscilloscopes.

As a result, I use some older ideas (like playing the melodic channel or the channel I like to hear first) and experimented with newer ones (like manually changing dynamics and volume. This is the Eb Chorale made by Dr. Thomas Singleton (I think he’s a doctor).

This video will be a bit long since I wanted to try and experiment with different ideas. I’ll probably keep my videos within 20 mins or less going forward.

Without further ado, let’s e go!

This past week is NOT kind to me:

- Last Tuesday, the audio (for what was the next video) got corrupted, so I had to rerender the channels.

- Couple of days later my Reddit Account got hacked and was almost permanently suspended because an idiot decided to use it for spam botting.

THEN the laptop I used for this channel without warning gave out. It's not powering on. Lost ALMOST everything I've ever done (minus some old backups)

- Then my Twitch account gets hacked and was suspended indefinitely for "automated/bot". Submitted and appeal today.

Why does this happen ON SPRING BREAK OF ALL TIMES (USA for those wondering

In the meantime, enjoy scenery.

I'm back! FINALLY finished up The Great Sea for WindWaker. The amount of things I had to do to make this sound as accurate to the GameCube Version was UNREAL (highly exaggerated).

I had to:

- Rip the samples from the game, though some I already had on hand (mainly because Twilight Princess, Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks literally share almost all the instruments that WindWaker uses.)

- Rebalance instrument volume, particularly the French Horns at Channels 7 and 12. WAY too loud.

- Find the correct instruments used. Channels 1 - 4 , for example, uses different string samples or very similar sounding string samples (in which fun fact, some are reused in Twilight Princess)

- Fix up articulations in some instruments. Ex: In-game, Channel 11's instrument is very smooth (think of a legato), while Channel 7 is more "rough" and jagged (think of a marcato mixed with accents). For most notes I had to just the note duration, some were more annoying to deal with though.

- Find if there's any dynamic parts in the game (which I only knew about one), in this case "Idle" theme then find what instruments are used for that theme.

Keep in mind, I usually rip the sequenced files from the game, so how the game interprets most values (like pitch, volume, loop points and such) will be interpreted differently in different Digital Audio Workstations (when converted properly into common Sequenced formats ofc)

Note to self: When a sequence has miniscule tempo changes (i.e 138bpm-->140bpm), DO NOT ignore them. It ends up causing the sequence to slowly desync and sound like a mess to some people (me) when comparing it to in game.

Also, mixing things to sound like the game is difficult. WindWaker and its nonsense JSystem.

Happy Holidays, I'm alive! I think. I have good news: I'm currently going through a bunch of old requests from months ago, and I can say this: The next video is going to make you travel far and wide, from the vast seas. It's quite the dynamic sequence.

But before that, I have a video about something that genuinely blew me away.
