10 years ago today we played our first show as Louis The Child in the basement of a local community house. We thought so many people were gonna show up that we told them they should move the furniture around to make more space. In the end only 9 or 10 people came (including our parents). We spent $120 at guitar center on a little light that day so we could have a “light show”. It’s really wild to think about what was coming over the next 10 years for those plaid shirted boys (not sure why we decided to dress like that but we did). To anyone who has listened to our music, come to a show, bought merch or told a friend about us, you’ve made the last 10 years so special, and we can’t thank you enough. Cheers to 10 more 💜

For our 3rd beat tape we set out to do something completely different from the first two. We're always making different styles of music, and after a while we noticed that we had a lot of songs that felt darker, grittier, and more dance focused than our others. It became clear that this dark, late-night-clubby sound and aesthetic was going to be the direction of our next beat tape. We pushed ourselves to create a project that was a step up from Candy 2 both sonically and visually. While working on the music, we got really interested in street photography and videography and started watching dance videos on YouTube. We would go out on the streets of LA in the middle of the night with our creative director, Chase, and film whatever looked cool to us in black and white. Mixing darker dance music, street videography, and dance performance felt like the perfect blend for Black Marble. After reaching out to film friends around the world about the project, the movie turned into not only a trip around the world for the viewer, but also a group of creatives from 9 cities across the globe coming together to support each other and create something really unique (massive shoutout to Blond Productions and Chase Black for helping coordinate it all). One of our favorite parts of creating the project was doing viewings of the film at warehouse venues in NYC, LA and Chicago. After each viewing we would go back and make adjustments to the film and music based off the reactions we got and how we felt seeing the movie on a big screen with a big sound-system. The best way to enjoy the project is to watch the film, play it very loud, turn the lights off and make sure you have some space to dance.
