Hey all, there will be no WoodShop Live tonight as I’m
In New England this week. But planning on hitting some great spots like Lie-Nielsen, Thos. Moser and the Currier Museum for the Masters of New England Furniture Makers show.

I may be heavily into Festool but I’ve been finding a lot of joy in the 12v PowerCore lineup from ‪@SkilPowerTools‬ Got this circular saw today from ‪@lowes‬ where they’ve been running great specials on the line. I picked this up for a video I’m thinking about doing on power tools that make sense for both the experienced and beginning woodworker.
More to come!

Holy Smokes! ‪@rodemic‬ just dropped this video about their new WirelessPRO and it's ridonkulous!!!! 32-bit float, 260m range, 32GB onboard recording, TIMECODE GENERATOR, headphone monitoring, auto gain, auto on/off, recharging case, included lavs and more for a retail price of US$400??? I'm blown away and will be ordering one for the channel.

Two years ago, I got the WirelessGOII and the onboard recording has saved our butts twice! That feature alone was worth it and now they're killing it with this new offering. Be sure to check out the video and we'll be doing a livestream unboxing when ours comes in!

The new Sony ZV-1 mark 2 was recently announced and I was going to make a video but I'm on location shooting in SouthEast Asia for a bit.

Overall, I'm a bit disappointed in the mark 2. Higher price and less usable features for our productions. For me, one of the greatest flaws of the ZV-1 is the f11 aperture limit. There's been many situations where I could have used f16 or f22 and that the mk2 didn't address that is a disappointment. Also, Sony dropped the image stabilization: disappointment. The focal length of the lens changed from 24-70mm to 18-50mm. The loss of that 20mm length is huge and a major disappointment. 70mm is effective on location and you just want to reach out and grab that little detail in the room.

Then, there's the variable aperture. On the ZV-1, it ranged from f1.8 to f2.8. Now, it's down to f4. On a larger sensor camera, like the FX30 or FX3, having a max f-stop of 4.0 can somewhat be overcome by the sensor sensitivity, but on a one-inch sensor camera? It requires you to push the ISO too far. Again: disappointment.

Of course, there's some nifty features like cinematic vlogging and screen/menu improvements, but for someone who's been shooting with the ZV-1 as our primary camera for nearly three years, I've developed a workflow that I don't foresee being enhanced by the mk2 features. Not to mention that it costs a couple hundred dollars more for less practicality.

The ZV-1 is such a great camera that introduced many usable features at a decent price point, but I've found the successors (ZV-E10, ZV-F and ZV-E1) to be less than appealing and not worthy replacements.
