Ok so: I have seen Aki.

Didn't have Kaiji Tang on my Bingo card. Haven't heard him in a hot minute so understandable that I thought it was Aleks. Kaiji is a really awesome dude. Loved his performances in Fate (Archer), JJK (Gojo) and Yakuza (Ichiban)

Everywhere I look people seem to think this guy sucks and I'm super confused as to why. Burn and Defense break is a powerful combination and he ignores ER. He is incredibly stat efficient, wanting only Attack and Speed as well as ER to protect his barrier. That's pretty on point from a flavor perspective since it makes Strak Gauntlet a viable option on him (I know, no barrier. Getting to that.)

I feel like people forgot about Tori already and all of the shenanigans she was able to do. If you play Aki on Torrent set with a Knight like... oh I dunno... the newly buffed Dragon Bride Senya in the same patch on Bastion of Perlutia...you will get to rain down a massive amount of fire. In fact, I wonder if Leveling Aki is actually detrimental to the character. If you leave him at base level on Torrent set and have another way to give him a barrier from a tank or otherwise, homie can burn something like... 8? 12? Some kind of insane amount of times in a row. (Well the barrier probably runs out before then but you get the point.)

Point is, I need people to stop knee jerking that characters suck an hour after a preview video. You haven't played it. Most of the time, people's trrack records suck in this community when it comes to predicting this stuff.

Do I think Aki is like super top tier? Nope. Do I think he might suck? Maybe. But homie has some serious sauce. I feel like most the things I've read haven't even considered half of the things he can do.

As I sit here wrapping up "How To Play: Sereniel", I'm at a loss on what to do with the recent announcement of Aki that's coming out in a few hours.

I have to be on the road early so I've made the decision to not make a First Impressions video for Aki until Friday when I return from my holiday. Just thinking about it, I would have to give up sleep, sacrifice time with Divine tomorrow when we meet for lunch, and possibly run into incliment weather. All of that just makes it not worth doing at the crack of dawn.

I will leave my initial thoughts here in a seperate post as well as an audio post over on Patreon tomorrow once I have arrived safely. For the actual video, look forward to it Friday.

I also want to take this time to answer a common misconception about the rules: You receive a game loss if your team point total exeeds 7 Points AFTER all 5 Characters have been picked.

Many players have been telling me that opponents will pick 9 points in the first 3 picks and say that is a Game Loss, but that's not true. It's only a game loss if they cannot bring the point total to 7 or less after the 5th pick. Hopefully that helps.

SG has announced that they are changing Unit/Gold cost to level Combatants and Partners. Any Units already spent will be refunded the 1st Wednesday in December.

Additionally, they are looking to rework some of Yuki's Epiphany choices to help strengthen her.
