Guys...I have AWFUL news. My Io caterpillar molted to it's final stage. I had the pupation tub ready and everything. I was so excited to watch it cocoon and hatch...but it didn't. It will never become a moth. It caught a type of disease that turned it a blackish color. It died last Friday without any warning. I don't know how it happened. I had washed all it's food (maple leaves) and cleaned it's enclosure every day. I guess hatching an Io Moth was only ever a dream. :( R.I.P little cater. I miss you. :(

Exciting news everyone! My Io Moth caterpillar has molted! It's now an early fifth instar. It's eating the maple leaves and is growing great. I also have Milkweed Tiger Moth caterpillars. I'll update on any changes that I notice.

Hey everyone! I recently found an Io Moth caterpillar and I'm trying to raise him up to become a moth. I know they overwinter so it won't emerge from it's cocoon until next year. I just need to know what month in spring they come out in. If you know please comment down below.
