“THE LAST PAINTING” The Strange Disappearance of Connie Marsh
The impact of this story still echo as an Urban Legend. But, it’s 100% true!
Connie Marsh disappeared April 3, 1974 while painting in a rural canyon area near Pico Canyon, CA. Santa Clarita Valley. Her belongings were found untouched and there was no sign of struggle at her car. A skull confirmed to be hers was discovered months later about 10 miles away, and the coroner ruled the death a homicide by blunt force trauma.
No suspect has ever been publicly charged or identified, and the case remains officially unsolved, but I think I know who did it!
Every town has its dark corners, places that don’t make it onto postcards or real estate brochures. In Santa Clarita, California—a city wrapped in golden hills and suburban calm—there’s one such place whispered about every Halloween: Eternal Rest Road.
Locals say it’s just an old, forgotten stretch of pavement tucked near the ruins of an abandoned cemetery project. Back in the early 1900s, the city planned to build a grand burial ground there. But construction halted when workers began vanishing under strange circumstances. Some claimed they saw pale figures wandering the hills. Others heard the toll of phantom church bells, though no church was ever built nearby. The project was abandoned, but the road remained.
Teens dared each other to drive it at night. Those who did reported headlights flickering out as if swallowed by the darkness. Some swore they saw a woman in a torn wedding dress standing in the middle of the road, her face hidden behind a veil. If you stopped, she’d vanish. But if you kept driving—she was said to appear in your backseat.
In the 1980s, on Halloween night, a group of kids from Canyon Country supposedly tried the dare. Only one came back. He was found wandering the streets the next morning, shaking, muttering the same phrase over and over:“Don’t look in the mirror. Don’t look in the mirror.” To this day, locals warn: if you drive Eternal Rest Road on Halloween night, roll up your windows and never, ever check your rearview mirror. Because what you see might just follow you home.
