With Jurassic World: Rebirth coming out, I've decided over the course of the next half a year, I will watch everything in the Jurassic franchise, now we are at the end of the road and I'm at the end of the road! Before I get into the obvious reason I did not like this movie, let's start with some other things. This had little to do with anything in the franchise, because at least Jurassic Park 3 felt like it was a part of the franchise. Most of the characters don't get enough backstory for us to care for them, the plot is all dizzying around who knows what and backstories are brought up that are never mentioned again. Now the part we were looking for: Dinosaurs. Now we would know my feelings on a pretty much accurate Spinosaurus getting no more then like 60 seconds of screen time, so I'm not gonna bring that up so YouTube doesn't delete my channel. The Mosasaurus is whatever, the Titanosaurus has some cool angle shots, the Quetzalcoatlus is pretty gruesome, the Rex river raft scene is cool and the Mutants? The Mutadon is a boring replacement for Raptors and the Distortus Rex is probably cooler than a Rex I would say but it doesn't do much, like I don't know FIGHT THE SPINO SQUAD, which would be a much better ending then the characters find a boat and the Distortus gives up randomly and they all sail back home happily (But don't worry something cool with Spinosaurus will happen on my channel at the end of the year, get ready for December 31st). This movie has all the components of what makes a "good movie" but is not a good Jurassic movie if that makes any sense. So overall, 10/10, but as someone who cares about this franchise, it's much lower.
With Jurassic World: Rebirth coming out, I've decided over the course of the next half a year, I will watch everything in the Jurassic franchise, and now dominion belongs to the dinosaurs. The reason a lot of people don't like this movie is nostalgia bait, which I completely disagree with. The movie fixes the loose ends with Ellie and Alan and yeah I guess Malcolm isn't needed but he's cool I guess. But there is one big issue: the plot. The beginning has cool dinosaur scenes that lead into a dinosaur breakout with Claire, then Maisie helps an Apatosaurus herd and THEN we get to see Blue and her baby, pretty cool right? Well guess what, we don't see anymore Dino action until halfway through the movie. I mean this Locust scheme and using genetics to save the world plot is cool, but it couldn't incorporate dinosaurs enough. But the second half, oh yeah. The Therizinosaurus, Quetzalcoatlus and Pyroraptor scenes were all great, but no one had the aura of Giganotosaurus, the biggest, most durable (fire-breathing?) dinosaur of all. The final fight? Spectacular and the most realistic fight in the whole franchise and super satisfying to see Rexy get her revenge from a 65 million year old grudge. So overall, 8/10
With Jurassic World: Rebirth coming out, I've decided over the course of the next half a year, I will watch everything in the Jurassic franchise, and now the world is starting to get chaotic. One thing I notice off the bat is the characters, they feel like shells of their kid self and have the same "oh let's have a random conflict that lasts one or two episodes!", except Yaz and Sammy breaking up, I'm glad the show did that. But the plot makes up for it, I think the Handler and the Atrociraptors are so cool and every scene they are in is epic. The subplot with Brooklyn working with the Broker to try to sabotage her was pretty cool too. But now the most important thing, the dinosaurs. The Raptors and most medium sized carnivores are done pretty well, but the spinosaurids, oof. Having Suchomimus get his butt kicked by a Hippo, then died to a Majungasaurus is disrespectful, but at least the leucistic Baryonyx was cool. But most of all, was the scary, terrifying, blood eating, Smoothie the baby Ankylosaurus who is the cutest dino in the franchise. While the show had a cool concept and dino action is pretty good, this had so much potential to be like the DinoTracker website with how dinosaurs are living in our world, but nope, it's about running to obscure places where only like two dinosaurs are there, so overall 7/10
With Jurassic World: Rebirth coming out, I've decided over the course of the next half a year, I will watch everything in the Jurassic franchise, now I'm watching the kingdom falling. I don't know why people don't like this movie, it's virtually perfect in it's own right. The characters great, all of them, the dino action is great, and the way the movie pans to jungle adventure movie to "haunted mansion" is perfect. There's only one problem, the Indoraptor. It had a great scene killing the great white mercenary and the billionaires but didn't feel too suspenseful chasing the main characters, it should have been more thrilling then suspenseful. But I gotta say, the emotion in this movie is perfect, to the "Should we save the dinosaurs?" to Blue's relationship with Owen, this might be the best so far in the franchise, but it does have some problems, like Maisie's inconsistent backstory and the Indoraptor scenes feeling mid., so overall 9/10
With Jurassic World: Rebirth coming out, I've decided over the course of the next half a year, I will watch everything in the Jurassic franchise, so now joining the camp fam. Off the top something I don't like about the show are the conflicts, the characters are interesting but the conflicts are annoying and pointless, and it seems unnecessary for characters to randomly act out. Also the pacing is horrible, what show should have been is, season one should have stayed the same while season two focused more on the poachers, season 3 should have been more about the Scorpius rex and season 4 and 5 are fine. But while humans and pacing are bad, this show exceeds in dino action. I normally hate chase and stampede scenes, but I love it here and the fights (especially between Spino and Rex, which is actually much better on a rewatch than JP3) are perfect (and Bumpy is the best) I also like how tied to the canon it is, like they worked with people who make the Jurassic movies to bring a character who didn't exist when the last season was in production. A lot of people didn't like the robots because it was to futuristic, but truth is we are closer to robots to dinosaurs in real life anyway and it isn't unbelievable to have robots we already had holograms. Just one more thing I don't like is how left-wing it is, to talking about "toxic masculinity" to making Sam and Yaz a couple, it doesn't bother me too much just keep it out of a kid's show. So overall, 8/10
With Jurassic World: Rebirth coming out, I've decided over the course of the next half a year, I will watch everything in the Jurassic franchise, and now we are halfway there, so welcome to Jurassic World. The first thing about this movie that I like is Indominus Rex, because it tracks down the characters and is strong enough to beat Rexy. The movie is just as witty as Jurassic Park 3 and the character growth in Claire is as awesome as Owen with the Raptors. The transition from the park being a happy crowded joyous place to it being emptied out by the chaos is also really cool. But of course it wasn't perfect, it was weirdly paced in the beginning and the movie had some weird shots just so news outlets would screenshot it. It was a pretty good movie not as good on a rewatch, so overall, 9/10
With Jurassic World: Rebirth coming out, I've decided over the course of the next half a year, I will watch everything in the Jurassic franchise, now we building up the franchise. Now I know some people say this show is not canon, especially the Grant and Malcolm episodes. But it is necessary to watch because it features interesting things like how there were past hybrids and Dennis Nedry's nephew coming back to ruin Jurassic world, but it misses so much potential and it could have been about how Masrani bought and built the island, but instead it's like the Megamind show with an annoying kid and unsatisfying love story with Owen and Claire, and why wasn't Danny the villain of the finale? But the annoying things it did have some cool things like Owen training the Raptors to be sidekicks and the Mosaurus growing over the show. So even though it missed out on so much potential, it was funny and good at what it did. So overall, 7/10
With Jurassic World: Rebirth coming out, I've decided over the course of the next half a year, I will watch everything in the Jurassic franchise, now we doing this for a 3rd time. Now pretty much everyone knows I'm a Spino fanboy and expect me to say how great Spinosaurus is in this movie, but I gotta say, Spinosaurus was not the highlight for me in the movie, sure it was big and scary and felt unstoppable, but it was reacting super slow to everything and didn't feel so threatening, plus on a rewatch you know everything it's going to do so all jump scares are pointless, and it needed more scenes. The real highlight are the Raptors, since the movie has an emphasis on communication within Raptors, they are more cunning and terrifying then in any other movie, the Pteranodon was cool too. All of the new cast was amazing especially the mom and Eric. A lot of people complain about how it's too fast paced, which in my opinion is a good thing since because it's more witty, faster and better jokes and comments are made so often it really does seem like Micheal Crichton isn't needed to make a good Jurassic Park movie. So overall, 9/10
With Jurassic World: Rebirth coming out, I've decided over the course of the next half a year, I will watch everything in the Jurassic franchise, now rediscovering the Lost World.
