I explored the abandoned Brookside Detention Center in Ontario shortly before it was demolished in 2025. Brookside operated for decades as a youth facility with a long and complicated history, including documented abuse, harsh punishment, solitary confinement, and a system that failed many of the kids who were sent there.

I was able to get inside the school wing and a few adjoining spaces before everything was torn down. The rest of the pods were sealed, but from what I saw, the layout and condition were mostly identical. These photos and the footage I captured give a final look inside a place that has now disappeared from the landscape but not from the people who lived through it.

Deep in the mountains of Alberta, at the site of a long abandoned coal town, sits the highest elevation cemetery in Canada. ⛰️

My daughter Victoria and I drove for almost 5 hours along unpaved roads through rain, mud and active mining areas to reach what felt like a forgotten piece of Canadian history.

The mining town of Mountain Park once held more than 1,200 people. Today only the cemetery remains, restored but still lonely, with many graves marked only as "unknown."

Mountain Park Cemetery in Alberta is the highest elevated cemetery in Canada.

This abandoned biker house had been owned by a single person from 1955 until 2011.

When explored in 2022, the house showed severe structural decay: soft and sagging floors, holes in the roof, widespread mold, and water damage in nearly every room. The property was considered unsafe to inhabit.

The house was later purchased and completely renovated. By 2025, it had been transformed into a modern family home with 4 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, a custom kitchen, 9 foot ceilings on the main level, a separate lower level entrance with a second kitchen, and a large rec room suitable for multigenerational living.

The real estate listing noted recent updates including new windows, doors, insulation, flooring, and roofing. It was listed for 839,900 in November 2023 and sold for 795,000 after 156 days on the market.

I explored an abandoned newspaper building that’s been left to rot — warped floors, collapsing walls, and a hidden ornate ceiling buried above old office tiles. What’s left inside tells a story of silence after decades of noise.

I found this abandoned farmhouse while driving through the back roads of southwestern Ontario. It was hidden behind thick overgrowth with peeling white paint and broken windows.

Inside, every door had been removed — some leaning against the walls, others lying on the floor. The place was cold, dark, and completely silent.
