The EcoReef Project has developed what we believe can play a part in reducing the stress of sun bleaching on shallow-water coral reefs.
Our Floating EcoReefs can be floated and anchored in formation to provide as much or as little shade as is necessary to cut the Sun’s radiation whilst at the same time protecting and promoting fish breeding.
Our issue is the measurement of the intensity of the Sun’s rays with and without EcoReefs in place.
With this information in hand, we can publish the information to anyone around the world to use and test these EcoReefs without time and without any financial constraints.
The nearest we can get to solving our issue is a ‘pyranometer’ however, we think that this could have problems with refraction underwater and we don’t have budgets to throw at it.
If there’s anyone out there with any thoughts on the subject please raise your hand. You don’t have to be a scientific genius as we’ve found that many of the most effective solutions have been the simplest.
