#Lenticel_Blotch_Disorder: Lenticel blotch disorder is a physiological disorder, not a fungal disease. It generally occurs in susceptible cultivars such as Red Delicious, Gala, Golden Delicious etc.

#Symptoms: Symptoms are hard, irregular brown patches/pits beginning around lenticels, often becoming more obvious near harvest or during storage.

#Major_Causes:
1️⃣Low Calcium in the fruit – probably the most important nutritional factor. Research shows that Lenticel blotch disorder becomes more severe as fruit Calcium levels decrease in fruit.

2️⃣High Potassium(K) relative to Calcium(Ca) – Excessive potassium can interfere with calcium uptake. High K and low Ca in fruit are associated with greater disorder severity.

3️⃣Hot and dry conditions – high temperature, dry soil and water stress can reduce effective Ca delivery to fruit.

#Management/#Treatment:
1️⃣ Spray Calcium Chloride dihydrate on time to prevent Lenticel blotch disorder.

2️⃣ Maintain balanced K and Ca:
Avoid indiscriminate heavy potassium application when fruit Ca is already low.

3️⃣ Maintain uniform soil moisture:
Avoid prolonged drought followed by heavy irrigation. Good root health and regular moisture help maintain nutrient uptake and fruit development.

4️⃣Pay good attention to susceptible blocks: Gala, Red Delicious, Golden are among the cultivars reported as susceptible, so orchard history and fruit nutrient status are useful for deciding preventive management.

#Bitter_Pit:
Bitter pit is a physiological disorder of apple, not a fungal or bacterial disease. It is mainly associated with inadequate calcium reaching the developing fruit and symptoms can become more obvious after harvest during storage.

#Symptoms:
●Small dark green/brown, sunken spots develop on the apple skin.
●Beneath the spots, the flesh becomes brown, corky and sometimes hollow.
●It is usually more noticeable around the calyx/end and shoulders of the fruit.
●Symptoms may be mild at harvest but increase during storage.

#Major_Causes:
●Low calcium concentration in fruit or poor calcium movement into the fruit.

●Excessive nitrogen, especially vigorous vegetative growth.

●Excess potassium or magnesium relative to calcium can increase risk.

●Large fruit/low crop load can increase risk in susceptible cultivars.

●Irregular soil moisture—both water stress and excessive irrigation can interfere with balanced growth and calcium delivery.

#Management/#treatment

1️⃣Calcium sprays:
●Use a properly formulated foliar calcium product during fruit development.

2️⃣ Avoid excessive nitrogen
●Don't over-apply nitrogen or encourage excessive vegetative growth.
●Maintain balanced nutrition based on soil and leaf analysis.

3️⃣Maintain regular irrigation
●Avoid severe water stress during early fruit development.
●At the same time, avoid excessive irrigation that produces very vigorous vegetative growth.

4️⃣ Maintain an adequate crop load
●Extremely light crops can produce large fruit and increase bitter-pit risk in susceptible varieties.

⚠️ #ALERT: The black spots that you see on apple fruit is not Secondary Scab, rather it is a disorder called Bitter Pit which is caused due to deficiency of Calcium and excess amounts of nitrogen in the plant.

Spray following [fungicides] per 100 litres of water to prevent it's further spread:
1. Zineb 68% + Hexacanozole 4% (125 gm) OR
2. Myclobutonil 10 WP ( 70 gm) OR
3. Metiram 55% + Pyraclostrobin 5% (100g) OR
4. Pyraclostrobin 12.8% + Boscalid 25.2% (30g)

#Core_Rot_Disease: Core Rot of apple is a fungal disease and the infected apples will naturally fall down. It is not possible to control this disease at this stage. Always check the fallen fruits inside.

⚠️ #ALERT: This grower has sprayed first HMO and then combination of *Captan+ Tebuconazole* after a gape of about 15 days which has caused #LeafPhytotoxicity and demaged around 60- 70% leaves of orchard.

Therefore, it is our humble request to farmers to avoid unnecessary mixing of fungicides & insecticides and avoid spraying during hot humid conditions at this stage to prevent such worrisome issues.
