My great grandmother Lola left her heritage behind in Louisiana when she moved to NY in the 1930s. I decided to uncover our family story and begin finding our roots. My 7th great-grandfather was "imported" from Africa. His name was Romaine Antoine Souris, and he was sold down the river away from his baby daughter ---- my 6th great-grandmother, and lost to her forever.
