Some argue that the Bible’s mention of eunuchs supports affirming LGBTQ identities. But is that a fair comparison?

This idea—highlighted by J. Warner Wallace—gets at something most people don’t realize: your starting point shapes everything. The way you understand the world now actually influences how you’ll process what you experience later.

Think of it like a filter: if you believe people are naturally good, you’ll interpret someone’s failure as an exception. If you believe people are innately fallen, you’ll expect flaws and look for deeper causes.

That’s why worldview matters so much—it’s the lens you use to make sense of reality, not just react to it. Before you even face a situation, your beliefs are already shaping how you’ll see it.

This view of faith isn’t about dependence on God — it’s about control. In NAR theology, faith becomes a tool or a force, not a relationship. Instead of trusting God’s will, the focus shifts to using “faith” to get results, as if we have the power to speak things into being ourselves.

But biblical faith isn't about manipulating outcomes — it's an active trust in Jesus Christ.

Worse still, we risk implying that those who suffer — especially chronically ill or disabled believers — simply haven't claimed what’s rightfully theirs. And that’s a heavy, unbiblical burden to place on someone already in pain.

Job’s words in this verse reflect a deep trust in God’s sovereignty — even in the midst of unimaginable loss. He doesn't attribute his suffering to chance, Satan, or his own lack of faith. Instead, he acknowledges that both the giving and the taking away are ultimately under the rule of the Lord. And still… he worships.

Movements like the Word of Faith and NAR teach that physical healing is always guaranteed if your sins are forgiven. But that creates a dangerous implication: If I’m not healed, have I truly been forgiven?

Job’s story challenges that. He was called blameless by God — and yet God allowed his suffering. Job didn’t rebuke the enemy or claim healing. He worshiped.

If your view of God only allows for healing, you’ll struggle when life brings pain. But Scripture shows us a God who is good, even when He takes away.

That’s not a different gospel. That is the gospel.

If you've been hurt by a church, you're not alone—and you're not wrong for feeling the way you do. Sometimes it's not God who’s let us down—it’s people. And when that happens, it can shake everything: your trust, your identity, even your willingness to walk into another church building.

But here’s the truth—your identity was never meant to come from a church culture, a denomination, or a role you hold. You’re not just what you do or who you're connected to. If you’re in Christ, you are a child of the Most High King. You are deeply loved and seen by Him.

Healing won’t happen overnight. But one of the most important steps you can take is to seek a faithful church—not the biggest, flashiest, or trendiest, but one that preaches the Gospel consistently and lives it out with care.

And yes, it’s worth saying—there is no perfect church or perfect pastor. But there are many quiet, humble, faithful leaders out there doing the work of ministry with integrity. You may never know their names—but they’re in the trenches, and they’re worth finding.

If we, as Christians, are supposed to be doing this kind of ministry, that’s a pretty big deal. Deliverance ministry takes up entire categories within churches. It shapes people’s lives, entire ministries are built around it, and there are tons of books written on it. If it’s real, it matters. But that’s exactly why I started asking—if this is such a major part of the Christian life, why is there nothing in Scripture that clearly instructs us to do it?

Learning the principles of hermeneutics (biblical interpretation) is actually what started to unravel things for me—especially when it came to deliverance ministries. I realized there is no biblical warrant—no clear instruction or prescription—for Christians to be doing many of the teachings and practices these ministries promote. So even the so-called “most biblical” ones eventually have to start speculating. They end up relying on personal experience to build their theology.

Young people aren’t afraid to ask hard questions—and they often ask really good ones.

If you’re walking alongside someone in their faith, don’t feel pressure to have all the answers. What matters more is your willingness to listen, be present, and pursue truth together.
