Happy International women’s day Queens! I’m thinking about our theme this year of Embracing equity. Throughout the many roles I have as a black female recording artist and working with children and young people in the area of Anti-racism and faith. You are often faced with the challenge of discovering the “Equity” finding language for unspoken narratives and making sense of things to enable the children and young people I work with to have a better understanding of this Equity and to find their own voices to enable them to obtain better experiences in education, leveraging the ever changing climate of diversity and inclusion and seeking opportunities in a space which isn’t often fair. My prayer is that my songs will always give room for Hope, hope of a brighter future filled with support, greater and fairer opportunities for children of colour, and that we would become a nation which embraces differences. That my work in anti-racism will always be active and compassionate solution focused and driving Change. So today I celebrate every woman who is behind every other woman, cheering us all along, striving towards excellence, breaking barriers. Together we can truly make a difference.
