I spent a good portion of my childhood at the Santa Barbara library. It was such a treat taking Bailey & Teddy to the updated kids floor (and the graphic novel section upstairs for Bailey!). Teddy played at the toy table with a bunch of other new toddler buddies. Then we found some really neat books that had voice recordings added to them, so he could push a button (his favorite thing to do) and then have each page read to him! It was such a neat resource for emerging readers and readers who need assistance. I really love libraries in general, but it was especially nice taking a special trip out to this one with them 💗

Romeo & Juliet at the Ahmanson. Center Theatre Group has some fantastic programs for students! I really appreciate all they do to encourage kids & the arts. We love attending the special “backstage club” post-show Q & A performances, where students can ask the performers questions about the show & their journeys in theatre. Good stuff!

When we went to Barcelona, we were smart and prioritize food. While exploring the gorgeous Gothic Quarter, we stopped for an incredible dinner at El Xampanyet recommended by RJ Larese (he knows what he’s talking about) and then made an impulsive ✨ but correct✨ stop at Elisa for some absolutely delicious gelato🍦

DUNCAN TURNED EIGHT YEARS OLD 🎉 & loves penguins, board games, theatre, books, playing outside, crafts, animals, and time with friends/family. Duncan is a really cool guy. He’s always had an air of being wiser than his years. He’s a lot of fun to spend the day with and even though he can be quiet, he cares deeply and is always up for a good time. Gaudi’s beautiful Parc Guell, with the iconic view of Barcelona & Mediterranean Sea. After learning all about Gaudi’s plans for the community (that did not progress, hence the park that it is today), we walked into Gracia and had a wonderful meal at La Frontera. The beginning of falling in love with all things Gaudi 💗

Here are some crafts our kids have really been enjoying lately! Duncan, Parker, and Bailey all love the 3D sticker scenes ✨🐧✨. They find them to be really calming and satisfying— they use the little tweezers and everything! I first found out about them on TikTok, but you can find a ton of them on Amazon now, too. I haven’t seen them in stores yet— Have you?? Duncan is also loving diamond art, but I’ve found it to be a bit tricky, as his little diamond things keep spilling out of the trays. Any ideas for a solution there? 💎

Teddy’s first movie at a movie theatre… also his first time at Paramount Studios! He did start talking to the screen a bit— cheering “croissant!!!” when a box of them appeared in the film. We were invited to an early screening of If movie and it is FANTASTIC! Great for all audiences— just as meaningful for adults as for kids. It’s super sweet & funny, while simultaneously layering in difficult topics. I love that we had our entire age range of kids (2-16) and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it! 💗 #ifmovie #ballingersratestuff #RedCarpetBallingers
