Software Engineer & Community Builder based in Tokyo.

With 10+ years of experience in mobile development, I am dedicated to bridging the gap between global tech talent and the Japanese market.

WHAT I’M BUILDING & LEADING:

👥 App大学 (formerly Flutter大学) | Founder of Japan’s largest membership-based Flutter developer community.

🎤 FlutterNinjas | Founder of the premier English-speaking Flutter conference in Japan.

📖 The Japan Tech Playbook (Coming Soon!) | Currently developing a comprehensive guide to help foreign engineers land their dream jobs in Japan.

Spent the morning at Ultra Tendency Japan for the next WE ARE HIRING video.

Good conversation about what the team actually does day to day, how much Japanese you really need for the role, and what it took to build a data engineering team here from Germany.

If you're a data engineer thinking about Japan, this one's worth waiting for.

Massive JLPT wins in our Inner Circle today! 🇯🇵🎉

Our community chat is filled with passing certificates: N3, multiple N2s, and N1!

I didn’t teach them Japanese, but when you surround yourself with ambitious engineers aiming for Japan, the momentum takes over.

English gets your foot in the door, but leveling up your Japanese unlocks high-tier roles and serious trust with Tokyo founders.

Proud of everyone who grinded late nights between writing code. Keep crushing it! 🔥

🚨 FINAL HOURS: The Japan Tech Playbook closes today at 3:59 PM Japan time (11:59 PM Pacific).

This round: 17 engineers from 13 countries joined. Italy, UAE, Poland, Taiwan, Georgia, USA, Indonesia, Netherlands, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and members already in Japan.

If you saw the video about the engineer who went from watching one video to working in Okinawa, this is the system behind that story.

After today: doors close, and the next price is $399+.

Our first "We Are Hiring" video successfully landed an engineer in Japan! 🇯🇵✈️

A few months ago, I interviewed Hiro at his fast-growing startup for our very first "We Are Hiring" feature.

Today, I’m incredibly proud to announce a massive success story: A talented engineer from the UK has officially accepted the offer and just relocated to beautiful Okinawa! 🌴☀️

When I started this channel, my goal was simple: to tear down the walls between Japanese startups and international developers. Seeing a real engineer transform their life and career through one of our videos is the ultimate proof that the "Side Door" strategy works.

This is just the beginning. More startups and more direct access to Tokyo's top CTOs are coming your way.

If you want to see the exact video that triggered this life-changing move, check out the full interview here👇

Congratulations to Hiro's team and the incredible engineer from the UK! Welcome to Japan!

Stay building,
Kei

🤯 Yesterday at SusHi Tech Tokyo 2026, which is an event celebrating innovation and "cutting-edge technology", attendees had to print a "paper QR code" to enter.

No paper printout, no entry.

Long lines formed at the venue as people scrambled to print on-site.

This is Japan's tech paradox in one image: world-class engineers building the future, inside a system still running on paper.

Love this country. 🇯🇵❤️ But this is the gap we still need to close.

Rain couldn’t stop our Hanami! 🌸💻

Yesterday’s Hanami party was an absolute blast! Even though we had to move indoors to Nishi-Shinjuku due to the rain, the energy was incredible.

It was so inspiring to see so many talented foreign and local engineers connecting over pizza, and drinks. Huge thanks to everyone who showed up and made it special!

🚀 Launching "The Japan Tech Community (by Kei)"

To keep this momentum going and make our future meetups even better, I’ve officially launched our community page on Luma.

I’ll be hosting more events like this—networking, tech talks, and socials—to help connect engineers here in Tokyo.
