Streetwise Thailand

Welcome to Streetwise Thailand. I’m Mick, originally from Australia, and over 12 years ago I moved to Asia — and I haven’t looked back. After more than a decade living, travelling, working, and retiring in Southeast Asia, I now call Hua Hin, Thailand home.
This channel is your streetwise guide to Hua Hin and the surrounding areas, with real stories, travel advice, expat tips, retirement insights, local food, markets, restaurants, hidden places, and the best spots to visit. Whether you’re planning a holiday, thinking about retiring in Thailand, or just want to understand what life is really like here, I share practical advice from real experience — not tourist brochure fluff.
Streetwise Thailand is mainly focused on Hua Hin, Cha-Am, Pranburi, and nearby areas, with occasional trips to Bangkok, Pattaya, and other parts of Thailand. Real Thailand, filmed on the ground, from someone who actually lives it.

Streetwise Thailand

A retired Thai Airways Boeing 747 is sitting in a field somewhere in Thailand.
No airport.
No runway.
Just a giant jumbo jet surrounded by grass, silence, and a few unanswered questions.
Once, this plane carried passengers around the world.
Now it sits on private land, with unfinished plans to become something completely different.
I climbed inside, explored the empty cabin, stepped into the cockpit, and walked out onto the wing.
How did a 747 end up here?
