Coolant change to do on the E30, thought I’d get a new expansion tank as the 35 year original is no longer transparent.

Bought an aftermarket one at a fraction of the price of a genuine one, after reading the label I’ve got a horrible feeling I’m going to find out why!

What do you guys reckon, do fit this, or go buy a genuine one (I’m guessing that will be made in Germany) ?

The M42 in the BMW E30 318is is looking ridiculously clean inside, I’d like to keep it this way!
Planning on giving it an oil change soon, I’d be interested to hear what oil are you 318is guys using and what change intervals are you running?

Found this interesting page amongst the original documentation that came with the E30.

Pretty well optioned cosmetic wise, but relatively still a stripped out model compared to the likes of the 325i, making it even lighter!
$65,000 NZD back in ‘90 would have been big money, would have been ballin’ back then if you sprung for the sweet optional 10 disc cd changer too!

Non the less, the car still rips today!

When you’ve been sold a lie with the E60 M5, and it turns out it isn’t an unreliable car. So you buy an old school BMW with issues so you have something to work on 🤷🏻‍♂️

New car coming to the channel soon-
It’s red, it’s old school, it’s a BMW and it’s super rare!

I’m currently rocking the M5 with no bonnet insulation. It shrunk so much the edges no longer held in place, it was getting a bit baggy!
My car now sounds like a tractor at idle 😁

Changed out the pollen filters on the E60 M5 today.

Warning definitely came up on time, not mileage (2 years and only 7,000 Km’s) so I ignored it for a while.

Checked them out today and they were actually quite dirty (not that dirty?) so decided to chuck a new set in there anyhow.
I normally use the carbon activated MicronAir brand (made in Germany) but found some E60 pollen filters at a local parts supplier on clearance insanely cheap, so I bought a heap of them 🙃

Carbon activated and have anti-bacterial properties apparently 🧐 but way less pleats than OEM branded ones.

I’ll see how they go 😬 I’m sure they’ll serve their purpose.

How often do you guy’s replace your E60 M5 microfilter?

Why you should always leave your E60 M5 parked in neutral-

Despite my best efforts to keep the M5 waxed regularly, it’s starting to get skin cancer on the boot lid, where the arse end sticks out from beneath the car port.

There seems to be two types of climates for cars on the planet- sunburnt clear coat & scorched interior, OR rust!
Which would you prefer?
