🚨FAVOURITE ALBUMS OF 2025🚨 Now the year is coming to a close, what's everyone's top 5-10 albums of the year? Admittedly I haven't listened to as much new music as I'd have liked to this year, but here's my list anyway. Share yours down below too - I'm sure everyone will find a few new records to check out before the year is over!
1# Ichiko Aoba - Luminescent Creatures 2# Chance the Rapper - Star Line 3# Wet Leg - Moisturizer 4# Black Country, New Road - Forever Howlong 5# Mei Semones - Animaru 6# Motion City Soundtrack - The Same Old Wasted Wonderful World 7# La Dispute - No One Was Driving the Car 8# Algernon Cadwallader - Trying Not to Have a Thought 9# The Last Dinner Party - From the Pyre 10# Lorde - Virgin
Others I really liked too: Propagandhi - At Peace Lucy Dacus - Forever Is a Feeling Lambrini Girls - Who Let the Dogs Out Deafheaven - Lonely People with Power Ghost - Skeletá Heart Attack Man - Joyride the Pale Horse PUP - Who Will Look After the Dogs? The Beths - Straight Line Was a Lie Japanese Breakfast - For Melancholy Brunettes (& Sad Women) Deaf Havana - We're Never Getting Out Turnstile - Never Enough Geese - Getting Killed Sabrina Carpenter - Man's Best Friend Clipse - Let God Sort Em Out
💡Do you love stacking tons of rhythm guitars, but hate how much clarity you lose? Well then this may be the trick for you! Something Green Day do - and a bunch of other bands for that matter - is to add one simple layer to their wall of guitars, which makes all the difference. It adds definition, attack and clarity, all from a single recording. Watch the full breakdown below to find out why and how this can be done 👇
Just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who watched, liked, shared or commented throughout the year. I think 2025 has been my biggest year yet on the platform, and I really appreciate everyone who’s helped grow the channel.
It’s especially cool to see so many people watching from all over the world - so thank you to everyone in Canada, Philippines, Germany, Brazil, United States and everywhere else. UK - you’re alright too 😉
💡Have you ever tried mixing or recording and felt like your music just doesn’t sound professional? Something that often gets overlooked is that there really is no single 'professional' standard.
By understanding why every record sounds unique - from the producers and engineers involved to the choices they made in the studio - you’ll learn how to focus on what actually matters for your own music. Watch the full breakdown and start making mixes that sound like you, instead of chasing what others have already done 👇
💡A lot of players treat power chords as a beginner stepping-stone - something you grow out of as soon as you learn more advanced chords. But those simple two-note shapes can completely transform your arrangements when you know even more ways to use them. From thickening a chorus without changing the part, to flipping the shape for a grungier texture, power chords can do far more than you may think. If you want to see how these simple shapes can make a massive difference to your sound, this video breaks it all down 👇
🚨FREE Plugins You Can Grab Right Now - No Spending Needed!🚨
Given it's Black Friday season, you’ll be tempted to buy a load of plugins you probably don’t need - instead, try picking up a few of these free ones and save your wallet this time. I’ve picked a few of my favourites that I use on almost every project. Let others know your personal picks too and help them find some great new tools!
Valhalla Supermassive - Atmospheric reverb and delay. Genuinely one of my favourite plugins ever - it’s insane that it’s actually free. I use this all the time for throw effects: try copying a snippet of your vocal or guitar, throw this on at 100% wet, and cycle through the presets until you find something cool!
Kilohearts Essentials
- 30+ free effects (delay, distortion, EQ, compression). They might look basic, but you can get a lot out of them. My personal favourite is the Tape Stop plugin - a nice little creative effect that’s perfect for transitions, or when you don’t know how to end a phrase 😅
I also love their Gain plugin - I use it on every channel as it’s much easier to dial in than clunky faders!
SP Free Drum Pack - A free MIDI drum pack I created to help you get started with programming. It features all the basic grooves you could need for punk, emo and beyond!
UAD - Get one free plugin from a handful to choose from. It’s a little more cumbersome as you have to install their Connect software too, but it’s still a free plugin at the end of the day!
Personally I’d go with the 1176 - a compressor that’s almost essential on vocals or drums - or the Pultec EQ. You really can’t go wrong with either!
What would you like to see more (or less) of on this channel? Just interested in learning more about the types of videos you enjoy, and what areas you'd like to see covered in the future. Thanks!
🚨 Final Week Of Black Friday: 40% Off Everything! 🚨
Drum packs, courses, TAB books - the whole lot. If you've been eyeing anything from my store, now’s the time to grab it. Offer ends this week!
