Chuck Norris was a legendary American martial artist, actor, and cultural icon. He rose from humble beginnings to become a global symbol of toughness and discipline.

Born: March 10, 1940, in Ryan, Oklahoma.
Air Force: He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1958 as an Air Policeman. While stationed at Osan Air Base in South Korea, he earned the nickname "Chuck" and discovered martial arts, starting with Tang Soo Do.
Martial Arts Mastery
• Championships: After leaving the military in 1962, he became a top-tier competitor. He won the Professional Middleweight Karate Championship in 1968 and held the title for six consecutive years until retiring undefeated in 1974.
• Discipline Founder: He founded his own martial arts style, Chun Kuk Do (now known as the Chuck Norris System), which blends various techniques.
• Rankings: He held multiple black belts, including a 10th-degree black belt in Chun Kuk Do and an 8th-degree in Taekwondo—becoming the first Westerner to reach the rank of Grand Master in that discipline.
Chuck Norris and Bruce Lee shared a legendary training partnership that lasted roughly three years in the late 1960s. Rather than a teacher-student dynamic, their time together was a mutual exchange of techniques and fighting philosophies.
How they met: the two first met at the 1967 (or 1968) All-American Karate Open Championships at Madison Square Garden. Norris had just won the world middleweight title, and Lee was giving a martial arts demonstration. After the event, they reportedly spent the night in a hotel hallway discussing and practicing techniques until 7 a.m.
• Family: He was married to Dianne Holechek (1958–1989) and later to Gena O'Kelley (1998–2026). He had five children.
Chuck Norris died at age 86 on March 19, 2026, following a medical emergency in Hawaii 🙏🏼
