Essence of the Moon

This photo was taken as I was starting my journey to who I am. It was captured years ago while hiking in Colorado with my husband, back when we were still dating.
No audience. No title. No idea of what life would ask of me.

Trusting in nature, the ground beneath my feet and the person walking beside me.

I have been sitting with this image while beginning my new series, Returning Home Rooted A Year of Healing, and something became very clear.

I did not lose myself along the way.
I survived. I adapted. I carried what I had to carry.

The woman in this photo did not disappear. She waited.

She stayed in my body, my instincts, my knowing.
She stayed in the land that remembers my footsteps and in the quiet places that never left me, even when life felt loud or heavy.

This journey is not about becoming someone new.
It is about returning.
Gathering the parts of myself I had to set down to make it through certain seasons and bringing them forward with care.

That is what Rooted is about for me.
Not fixing. Not rushing.
But remembering and coming home slowly, honestly, and with compassion.

If this season of your life feels like a return rather than a beginning, you are not alone.
Sometimes healing is not about finding yourself.
It is about gathering yourself back.
