Assalam-o-Alaikum dear students,

Before tomorrow’s O Level English 1123 paper, I want to share a few very important last-minute tips with you:

O-Level English Language (P2) – Last Minute Tips*

1️⃣ Stay calm and confident. You are well prepared just trust yourself.

2️⃣ In Directed Writing, carefully read the question. Cover ALL bullet points, maintain correct format, and use the right tone (formal/informal as required). Do not go off-topic.

3️⃣ In Composition, choose the question you can develop easily. Focus on clarity, not complexity. Keep your ideas organised in paragraphs.

4️⃣ Use simple, accurate English. Avoid over-complicating sentences or forcing difficult vocabulary like if you are not sure about a word, just leave it and use a clear word instead!

5️⃣ Manage your time wisely:
- Directed Writing: 40–45 minutes
- Composition: 40–45 minutes
- Last 10–15 minutes: proofreading

6️⃣ Quickly check spelling, punctuation, and verb tenses at the end.And yes Plzzz write neatly ! Handwriting/Presentation matters a lot honestly! Even your mistakes could overcome if you write neatly and also avoid cuttings !

*Directed Writing*
- Be clear about the purpose of your writing.
- Identify your audience and adjust your tone accordingly.
- Structure your response into 4–5 paragraphs:
-Introduction
- Arguments for
-Arguments against
-Conclusion (with your opinion)

- Use only ideas from the given texts.
- Stay neutral until the final paragraph, where you give your opinion.

*Composition*

- Use a variety of sentence structures.
- Only use vocabulary you can spell and use correctly.
- Avoid careless punctuation errors (e.g. missing full stops, incorrect speech marks).
- Organise your writing into clear paragraphs.
- Have at least 2–3 strong plot ideas prepared beforehand.
- Avoid using non-English words.
- Start with a powerful hook sentence to grab attention.
- Use literary devices (imagery, similes, metaphors, etc.) to improve your grade.
- Follow the 80/20 rule: Narrative: 80% story, 20% description. Descriptive: 80% description, 20% light narrative

Most importantly, stay confident. You are ready, and you can do very well InshaAllah.

Best of luck 🌟 I’m sure you all will amaze me with your dynamic results! #olevels #english #1123

✨ 1. Formal Email – Golden Starters (Olevels English)

Use these when writing to principal, manager, organization, etc.

* I am writing to express my concern regarding…
* I am writing in response to your recent email about…
* I would like to inquire about…
* I am writing to request your permission for…
* I wish to bring to your attention…
* I am writing to inform you that…
* I would greatly appreciate it if you could…
* I am writing to seek clarification on…

💡 Examiner Tip: Avoid “I am writing this email to tell you…” → sounds basic.

✨ 2. Semi-Formal Email Starters (School / Known Adult)

* I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to…
* I hope you are doing well. I would like to discuss…
* Following our recent discussion, I would like to…
* I am writing regarding…

✨ 3. Informal Email – High-Scoring Friendly Starters

(For friends, cousins, etc.)

* I hope you’re doing great! I just had to tell you about…
* It’s been a while since we last spoke, so I thought I’d write to you about…
* You won’t believe what happened recently…
* Guess what? I have some exciting news to share…
* I was so happy to receive your email and couldn’t wait to reply…
* How have you been? I wanted to talk to you about…

💡 Examiner Tip: Keep it natural — contractions (I’m, you’re) are fine.

✨ 4. Strong Purpose + Tone Combo Starters

These are what really impress Cambridge examiners:

* I am writing to formally request your approval for organising…
* I was delighted to receive your invitation, and I would like to…
* I regret to inform you that…
* I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with…
* I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for…

⚠️ What to AVOID (Common Mistakes)

* ❌ “Hi, my name is…” (unless required)
* ❌ “I am writing this email to…” (too basic)
* ❌ Overly fancy vocabulary that sounds unnatural
* ❌ Jumping into details without stating purpose

🌟 SINCE vs FOR – Use Time Correctly! 🌟
✅ SINCE (Starting point of time)
• Since 2020 📅
• Since morning 🌅
• Since childhood 👶

✅ FOR (Duration of time)
• For 2 hours ⏳
• For many years 📆
• For a long time ⌛

💡 Quick Hack:
