శరన్నవరాత్రుల విశిష్టత:-
శరన్నవరాత్రులు అనగా శరత్ ఋతువు ప్రారంభంలో వచ్చే నవరాత్రులు అని అర్థం. పూర్వం మహిషాసురుడని రాక్షసుడు దేవతలందర్నీ చిత్రహింసలు పెడుతుండగా అతడిని అంతం చేయడం కోసం ఒక శక్తిని సృష్టించాలని దేవతలందరూ ఏకమై తమ తమ తేజస్సుల నుంచి కొంత తేజస్సులను ఏకం చేసి ఒక శక్తిని సృష్టింప చేశారు. ఆ శక్తియే ఆదిశక్తి అంశ అయిన దుర్గాదేవి. ఆ తల్లి మహిషాసురుడితో తొమ్మిది రోజులు యుద్ధం చేసి తొమ్మిదవ రోజున మహిషాసురుని అంతం చేసింది. తొమ్మిది రోజులపాటు యుద్ధం చేసి ఉగ్రంగా ఉన్న అమ్మవారిని శాంతింప చేయడం కోసం దేవతలందరూ కూడా అమ్మని అర్చించి, పూజించి, మహిషాసుర సంహారం జరగడం వల్ల ఆశ్వీజ శుద్ధ దశమి రోజున విజయాన్ని సాధించిన సందర్భంగా విజయదశమి పండుగ చేసుకున్నారు, దానికి ప్రతీక గా మనం ప్రతి సంవత్సరం ఆశ్వయజ మాసంలో తొమ్మిది రోజులపాటు నవరాత్రుల పూజలు చేసి పదవ రోజున దసరా పండుగను చేసుకుంటున్నాము.
