NASA's next cosmic mapmaker – SPHEREx – is set to launch on its quest to help scientists better understand the structure of the universe, how galaxies form and evolve, and the origins and abundance of water and other key ingredients for life in our galaxy.
The space telescope is set to launch aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket on Saturday, March 8 - and live launch coverage begins at 6:15pm PT / 9:15pm ET: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qkTcm...
After 14 years in orbit, the #NEOWISE mission is ending. During its mission, the space telescope made 1.45 million infrared measurements of more than 44,000 solar system objects AND discovered 25 comets.
Happy #EarthDay! NASA studies our home planet and its interconnected systems more than any other planet in our universe.
Earth-observing missions like SWOT will help us better understand things like how Earth's 370 quintillion gallons of water is spread out all over the planet in lakes, rivers, glaciers, oceans, and groundwater as well as how we plan for future water needs.
We're going live from the Europa Clipper clean room next week to show you the spacecraft before it leaves JPL and heads to @NASAKennedy to prep for launch this October.
What would you like to see inside the clean room, or what should we show you or discuss?
Tune into our 24/7 live cam to watch the team put the finishing touches on the spacecraft before it heads off to @NASAKennedy later this spring to prep for launch this October!
Every day, the Earth receives visitors from outer space: tons of space debris that mostly goes unnoticed. Some of these “shooting stars,” however, do survive the fiery descent through the atmosphere. But as the saying goes: "The dinosaurs didn't have a space agency. Fortunately, we do."
☄️ Watch one of our favorite episodes of JPL and the Space Age, and learn about NASA’s larger effort to protect our planet from cosmic marauders.
The #MissionToPsyche launch is set for October 5, 2023 – less than 100 days away!
The team is working almost around the clock at NASA's Kennedy Space Center to ensure the spacecraft is ready for a 2.5-billion-mile (4 billion km) journey to a metal-rich asteroid located in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. Watch to learn more ⬇️

What do we know about the newly discovered interstellar comet, 3I/ATLAS?
This rare visitor from beyond our solar system was spotted this week, and the global astronomy community is racing to collect more data.
Davide Farnocchia, a navigation engineer with NASA's Center for Near Earth Object Studies (CNEOS), breaks it down.
(Note: This object poses no threat to Earth. It's about the science!)
