I recently read Seeing by José Saramago, the indirect sequel to Blindness. The story takes place in a city where everyone suddenly makes a strange choice in an election, causing political chaos.
Honestly, I didn’t enjoy it as much as Blindness. The focus is more on political and social ideas than on characters, so I couldn’t connect with the story or its people. Saramago’s unique writing style, with long sentences and dialogue without punctuation, also slows down the pace. Overall, it feels more like a philosophical-political book than an exciting story.
If you loved Blindness, it’s still worth a read—but don’t expect the same intensity or suspense.
🌸 Book Introduction: The Perfume Collector ✍️ Author: Kathleen Tessaro 📚 Genre: Romance, Mystery, Historical Fiction
A captivating story told across two timelines: One follows Grace Monroe, a young woman in 1950s London, who unexpectedly receives a letter revealing that a mysterious woman from Paris has left her entire estate as an inheritance. The other explores the life of Eva d’Orsey, a daring and enigmatic woman in 1920s Paris, who creates unique perfumes with bittersweet stories…
👃 This novel intertwines the world of fragrances with emotions, love, betrayal, and the power of choice. 📍 If you enjoy stories where past and present beautifully intertwine and want to immerse yourself in a poetic world full of scents and secrets, The Perfume Collector is a perfect pick.
✨ A memorable quote from the book: “Perfume is the memory that never fades…”
📚 Book Recommendation: All Men Are Mortal ✍🏻 Written by: Simone de Beauvoir
What would your life look like if you found out you were immortal?
This novel tells the story of a man who cannot die — he lives through centuries, witnessing the rise and fall of civilizations, love, war, and unbearable loneliness.
Is immortality a gift or a curse?
Simone de Beauvoir explores deep philosophical questions about life, death, meaning, and what it truly means to be human. Though fictional, this book feels strikingly real and hauntingly reflective.
🖋️ A quote that stayed with me: “Man is only human because he is mortal.”
☁️ Currently reading on this flight: “When Nietzsche Wept” by Irvin D. Yalom — the Persian edition.
A captivating novel where philosophy meets psychology. It’s a fictional conversation between Friedrich Nietzsche and Dr. Breuer that delves deep into human emotions, suffering, and the search for meaning.
📖 What are you reading these days? I’d love to hear about books that make you reflect and think deeper.
Thank you for being part of this small but growing study community. 🌿 Your presence truly means a lot.
“Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow” is a novel about the game of life.
Sometimes, I think maybe we are all just characters in a game. Someone is sitting behind a system somewhere, making decisions for us. We’re just going through the stages, losing lives, coming back to life, taking missions, and maybe in the end, we’ll win… maybe not.
The book Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow gave me exactly this feeling. It’s the story of two people who created a game, but in reality, they were designing life itself, with all its loves, friendships, rivalries, and heartbreaks.
It’s a profound story with a simple appearance, an intelligent narrative about how our lives are like a game, full of stages, wins, and losses, but most importantly: it’s playable.
If you’re interested in games, philosophy, and complex human emotions, don’t miss this book. You might even become fascinated with the magical world of games by reading their sweet thirty-year-long story, because gaming is pure magic…
It means time travel, it means tomorrow. It means infinite rebirths and infinite resurrections.
If you keep playing, you can win. No loss or grief is permanent, because nothing is ever permanent…

📖 “The Power of Habit” – More Than Just a Self-Help Book
Most self-help books are filled with tips that can sometimes feel like reading a textbook—lots of advice, but no clear way to apply them in real life. But The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg is different.
This book doesn’t just list theories and principles; it tells engaging real-life stories that show how habits are formed and how we can change them. From small personal changes to major transformations in organizations and society, everything is explained through practical and relatable examples.
If you want to change your habits in a real and effective way, don’t miss this book!

You Can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay may not be the best book I’ve ever read, but the last chapter had a profound impact on me. Louise shares the story of her life—from a difficult childhood, parental separation, an experience of abuse, teenage pregnancy, and giving up her child, to the journey that transformed her into a strong and inspiring woman.
What I found interesting was that, through mental exercises, she managed to control her cancer. Maybe it’s not as simple as she makes it sound, but her efforts to change her mindset and overcome challenges are truly inspiring.
If you’re looking for a real story of struggle and transformation, the last chapter of this book is worth reading.
📖 “Sometimes, all we need is a change in perspective on life.”
The novel Laughter in the Dark by Nabokov starts with a simple appearance, but as the story progresses, the psychological and human complexities of the characters become more apparent. The story of Albinius, a wealthy man who mistakenly places his trust in the love and loyalty of Margot, beautifully portrays the intersection of optimism and betrayal. Nabokov, with his unique artistry, takes a close look at the characters and events, revealing the intricate layers of their inner selves. The ending of the story reflects the very concept that seems simple at first: “Love blinds you.” This novel is full of contradictions, skillfully leading the characters to the brink of self-awareness. In the heart of darkness, ultimate freedom may only be a mirage.
"Three Daughters of Eve by Elif Shafak” This book tells the story of Peri, a Turkish girl caught between her past and present, searching for answers to life’s biggest questions. During her time at Oxford, she meets Mona, a devout Muslim; Shirin, an outspoken atheist; and Peri herself, who is somewhere in between—full of doubts and struggles.
Reading it, I couldn’t help but feel like Peri was me—a Middle Eastern girl grappling with identity, love, and beliefs. It felt like reading my own story, bittersweet in so many ways.
I think this book is perfect for anyone who loves to think deeply and reflect on their inner world.

Atomic Habits had been sitting on my bookshelf collecting dust for a long time, and I don’t know why I kept postponing reading it… Then one day, my favorite psychologist on Instagram posted a picture of their cat, and in the background, a part of their bookshelf was visible. As I looked closer, I noticed this book was among their collection! That moment, I felt motivated to finally pick it up and start reading. I’m so glad I gave myself this chance because it’s truly a valuable book that shows how small and simple changes can help build great habits. If you, like me, have had this book for a while but haven’t read it yet, now is the time to give it a shot!
