Did You Armor Up Bro? Ephesians 6

The purpose of our podcast “Did You Armor Up Bro? Ephesians 6” is to edify others in the teachings of the Holy Bible, which is God’s Word. Our mission is to lead others to Jesus Christ, participate in fulfilling the Great Commission, and to make disciples of all nations. The title “Did You Armor Up Bro? Ephesians 6” is based on Ephesians 6:10-18, which describes putting on the Whole Armor of God. We can overcome the wiles of the devil by submitting ourselves to God, resisting the devil, and he will then flee from us. As believers in Jesus Christ, we have the Holy Spirit living in us. “Did You Armor Up Bro?”

Did You Armor Up Bro? Ephesians 6

Satan wants to keep you out of the Word of God because he knows that if he can keep believers out of the Word of God, then they won't be sanctified through the truth, and their mind won’t be renewed. God's Word is truth, and we are sanctified through that truth and our mind is also renewed by that truth. The Word of God is the Sword of the Spirit. We already know that His Word doesn’t return void.

Also, Satan wants to keep you out of the Word of God because he came to steal, and to kill, and to destroy.

So if you're not spending time with God in the secret place, if you're not spending time in His presence, if you’re not spending time in prayer, and if you're not spending time in His Word, then how can you expect Him to sanctify you through His truth and to renew your mind through His Word?! How can He sanctify you through His truth if you're not even opening up His truth and reading it?!

How can you honestly expect to walk in victory over the enemy if you're not even opening your mouth and using the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God? You already know that His Word doesn’t return void so why aren’t you speaking it?! Why aren’t you meditating on it day and night?!

It’s time to stop having this “Woe is me…” mindset your entire life and it’s time to start walking in the victory that you have through Jesus Christ!

Have faith and get up! Pick up your Bible which is the Sword of the Spirit and start speaking the truth of God’s Word over your life! Use the authority that Jesus Christ has given you over Satan, the demons, and the unclean spirits. The Holy Spirit, who is the Spirit of God literally living inside of you is greater than the enemy! It’s time to truly understand who you are in Christ and to walk boldly in that authority! I honestly don’t know how much clearer I can make it for you.

John 17:17 KJV
“Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.”

Romans 12:2 KJV
“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”

Isaiah 55:11 KJV
“So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.”

Hebrews 4:12 KJV
“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”

1 John 4:4 KJV
“Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.”

Did You Armor Up Bro? Ephesians 6

Satan will try to attack your faith because he knows that if he can get you to waiver in your faith, then you will question your identity in Christ. He doesn’t want you to know the truth of God‘s Word, and the devil definitely doesn’t want you to know that you have authority over him through what Jesus Christ has done, through His death, burial, and resurrection.
He has given us the victory! Remember that we walk by faith and not by sight.

Satan doesn’t want you to know that you have power over him through the Holy Spirit. As Christians, we should be walking in the Spirit, but Satan wants you to walk in the flesh. We can overcome the whiles of the devil by submitting ourself to God, resisting the devil, and then the devil will flee from us. When we walk in the Spirit, we will not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

The devil does not want you to stand firm in your faith because he knows that without faith it is impossible to please God. We know that with God all things are possible, and believing that truth and walking in that truth requires faith, and we know that faith can also move mountains. We know that God is not a man that He should lie, and we know that His Word is truth. God’s Word will never return void. It is so important to stand firm in your faith and know that when we resist the devil he will flee from us. Resist him steadfast in the faith. Our God is faithful and He has already made the way out of every temptation that we will face in our life.

Let’s choose to intentionally walk in the Spirit, so that we do not fulfill the lust of the flesh. It’s time to stop sowing to the flesh, and if we keep continuing to do so, we will end up reaping corruption. It’s time to start sowing to the Spirit and reaping eternal life. Jesus died and was raised to life again for our justification, but we need to repent! Just because He fully paid for our debt on the cross does not mean that we get to use it as a license or as an excuse to sin! God will not be mocked. Whatever a man sows, that shall he also reap. Jesus warns us that if we don’t repent, we will perish. It’s plain and simple. Let everyone that names the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

Every single one of us needs Jesus.

Get up and know who you are in Christ and firmly plant your faith in the Word of God! God is who He says that He is, and you are who He says that you are. Know and actually choose to walk in your identity in Christ, and don’t you ever forget who you are.

Ephesians 6:16 KJV
“Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.”

John 10:10 KJV
“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”

John 8:32 KJV
“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

James 1:2-4 KJV
“My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;
Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.”

Romans 8:28 KJV
“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”

Hebrews 4:12 KJV
“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”

Galatians 6:7-8 KJV
“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.”

2 Timothy 2:19 KJV
“Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.”

Luke 13:3 KJV
“I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.”

Isaiah 55:11 KJV
“So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.”

Did You Armor Up Bro? Ephesians 6

Satan will try to corrupt you by using other people. The devil knows the Word of God, and in the Word of God it talks about how evil communications corrupts good manners. We are aware that the devil knows the Word of God because he even attempted to use it against Jesus when he was tempting Him in the wilderness.

When Judas Iscariot betrayed Jesus, the Bible talks about how Satan entered into the heart of Judas Iscariot. We have to remember that we do not wrestle against flesh and blood. Satan wants us to be ignorant of knowledge, but as Christians, we are not ignorant of his devices.

Remember that people who are not believers in Christ do not have the Holy Spirit dwelling within them, therefore it is a possibility that they can be possessed by demons. They can be used by the enemy, because they do not have the Holy Spirit dwelling within them. Demons can possess unbelievers, because it says all throughout the gospel about Jesus casting them out. Jesus casted out demons by the Spirit of God, who is the Holy Spirit.

It is so important to use discernment, even regarding the company you surround yourself with, because if you surround yourself around people who are not submitted to Christ, then their bad behavior is going to corrupt your good morals, and then eventually you will become just like them.

The devil will also try to use people to get us to react from our flesh out of anger, rather than us choosing to respond from the Spirit. We need to remember that one of the fruits of the Holy Spirit is self-control. As Christians, we are allowed to be angry, but we are instructed to not sin in that anger. Satan wants you to fall for this tactic and be ignorant of knowledge, because once you are angry and if you end up sinning in that anger, you have just given the devil a foothold in your life. Also during this, he attempts to get you for a two-for-one deal; the first one is that you end up being angry and end up sinning, which gives him a foothold in your life, and the second one is that you now have bitterness and unforgiveness in your heart, and Satan knows that Jesus made us aware that if we do not forgive others of their trespasses, neither will our Father in heaven forgive us of our trespasses, therefore we won’t be forgiven of our sins. That is why we are instructed by Jesus to forgive seventy-times-seven. Do you now see and understand what I’m saying?!

It’s up to you to choose who you spend your time with, who you want to be friends with, and who you want to be in a relationship with. That is also why it is so important to not be unequally yoked. What fellowship does light have with darkness?! There is none, so don’t be deceived.

Know the truth of the Word of God and make your decisions based on what God tells us through His Word. Study to show yourself approved. Always seek God and ask Him about the daily decisions and choices that you need to make. Don’t make any more decisions without going to God in prayer first. Ask Him for wisdom, knowledge, understanding, and discernment.

Yes, Jesus did spend time being around sinners, however, He did not sin with them. He is the Son of God. He was there to be the light in the dark place, just like you should be the light in the dark places where you go. We have to remember as Christians, that even though we are called to be the light of the world and the salt of the earth, it is good for us to have healthy boundaries as well.

Here are a few things to remember; a companion of fools shall be destroyed, pride goes before destruction, we need to take heed lest we fall, we need to be guarding our heart.

We need to be situationally aware of who we spend our time with. Ask yourself, “When I spend time with this person, are they bringing me closer and helping me grow in my relationship with my Father or are they bringing me further away from Him? When I spend time with them, are they dragging me back into the world and into my old sinful ways? Are they a good influence in my life or a bad influence in my life?”

Sometimes, in order to protect yourself from being corrupted by a person’s bad company, you have to establish healthy boundaries and make a choice to cut certain people off completely, so that you don’t become corrupted as well.

Ephesians 6:12 KJV
“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”

2 Corinthians 2:11 KJV
“Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.”

John 13:26-27 KJV
“Jesus answered, He it is, to whom I shall give a sop, when I have dipped it. And when he had dipped the sop, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon.
And after the sop Satan entered into him. Then said Jesus unto him, That thou doest, do quickly.”

Matthew 16:23 KJV
“But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.”

Mark 5:7-9 KJV
“And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not.
For he said unto him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit.
And he asked him, What is thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many.”

Acts 16:18 KJV
“And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour.”

Luke 10:19-20 KJV
“Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.”

Ephesians 4:26-27 KJV
“Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:
Neither give place to the devil.”

1 Corinthians 15:33 KJV
“Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.”

1 Corinthians 10:12 KJV
“Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.”

Proverbs 3:5-7 KJV
“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil.”

Proverbs 2:6 KJV
“For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.”

Matthew 6:33 KJV
“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

Did You Armor Up Bro? Ephesians 6

So at one point in my life, in the past, I had this fear of being persecuted for the name of Jesus, but then I remembered that God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

I also remembered that all those who follow Christ will suffer persecution, and also that the servant is not greater than his master. I was just asking God to help me, because I've never really had that fear about this before. I remember telling God, “I can only do this with your help. I can't do this without you at all.” I was crying, and in that very moment, He reminded me that His strength is perfected in my weakness. He is the one who goes before me.

God’s perfect love casts out fear. I don't have to be fearful. I can just trust. I can just be still and know that He is God. I know that as long as I'm following Christ and being led by the Holy Spirit, then I will be okay, and even if I do suffer persecution for the name of Jesus Christ, then I know that I am not exempt from that suffering, because Jesus suffered, and so did His disciples. Eventually, every single one of them died for their faith in Christ, and that's something that I'm willing to do. To live is Christ, and to die is gain. I am His servant until I take my last breath. All that matters is truly living for Him.

2 Timothy 1:7 KJV
“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”

2 Timothy 3:12 KJV
“Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.”

John 15:20-21 KJV
“Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.
But all these things will they do unto you for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent me.”

2 Corinthians 12:9-10 KJV
“And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.”

Isaiah 40:10 KJV
“Behold, the Lord God will come with strong hand, and his arm shall rule for him: behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him.”

1 John 4:18 KJV
“There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.”

Psalm 46:10 KJV
“Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.”

Matthew 6:33 KJV
“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

John 16:13 KJV
“Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.”

Luke 9:23 KJV
“And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.”

Hebrews 12:2 KJV
“Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

Philippians 1:21 KJV
“For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.”

Luke 9:62 KJV
“And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.”

Did You Armor Up Bro? Ephesians 6

I know that with every temptation, God provides the way of escape. God is not the one who tempts us, but Satan is the one who tempts us.

When we are dealing with temptation, we have to remember that we could be tempted by a few different things; Satan (aka the devil), the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. We also have to remember that people who have not accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior do not have the Holy Spirit dwelling inside of them, therefore they can possibly be used by demons. There were a lot of times throughout scripture that Jesus casted demons out of people by the power of the Holy Spirit. We have to remember that we do not wrestle against flesh and blood. Satan wants us to be ignorant of knowledge. But we have wisdom, knowledge, understanding, and discernment from the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth and He will guide us into all truth!

We should be praying without ceasing and we should also be praying that we do not enter into temptation. We already know that the devil is looking for someone to devour.

Let’s stay ready so that we don’t have to get ready. We need to prepare in advance. Let’s choose to intentionally walk in the Spirit. Put on the Whole Armor of God every single day in prayer and in faith, and pray Psalm 91 over yourself every single day. Pray everything in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ! He has the name above all names!

I know that my God is faithful. I know that He has already delivered me! I am no longer a slave to sin, so why would I choose to go back to my sin? We really need to press into God.

If I’m being honest, somedays I feel like the Holy Spirit will put that desire in my heart to do something specific. So then I'm thinking “Okay”, and I have this desire to do what He wants me to do, but then maybe I wouldn't end up doing what He put on my heart to do.

He might be telling me to read the Word of God, but my flesh doesn’t feel like it right now. He might be telling me to fast, but my flesh doesn’t feel like it right now. He might be telling me to pray, but my flesh doesn’t feel like it right now. Then eventually I would not end up doing what He put on my heart, because I was being lazy and spiritually undisciplined, and that’s a bad place to be.

It reminds me that sometimes when we are tempted and if we don’t take that step of faith and do what God has put on our heart to do, I feel like God is saying, “Okay. I gave you the way out, and if you were to listen to me the first time you would have already had the way out of this temptation, and you wouldn't be in the situation that you are in, but because you didn't listen to my instructions, now you are in this situation and you have to deal with the consequences of your actions.” It honestly reminds me that we will reap what we sow.

We have to remember that the devil is just waiting for a perfect opportunity to find us being inconsistent and undisciplined, and then he will come after us. You better believe that he notices our inconsistency. He’s probably thinking, “How much did they read the Word of God today? Oh, they didn't read it at all. (We are supposed to be meditating on His Word day and night.) How much did they pray today? Oh, they prayed for like five minutes. (We are supposed to pray without ceasing.) When was the last time that they fasted? Oh, it’s been several months. (We are supposed to walk in the Spirit so that we do not fulfill the lusts of the flesh.) When was the last time that they got into the secret place with God? Oh, they have been neglecting spending intimate time with Him. (We need to get into the secret place with God, just like Jesus did.) When was the last time that they went to church? Oh, they haven’t went in years. (We should not forsake the assembling of ourselves.) When was the last time that they worshipped God in spirit and in truth? Oh, they don’t do that anymore. (The praise of the Lord shall continually be in our mouths.) When was the last time that they searched for God with their whole heart and prayed on their knees and cried out to Him? (We shall find Him when we shall search for Him with all our heart.) When was the last time that they did any of those things? Hmm okay, they haven’t been doing any of these things. They have been inconsistent and undisciplined, and now I have a perfect opportunity to go after them.”

Do you understand and see what I’m saying, that Satan is literally just waiting for an opportunity?! Stay consistent and disciplined in your walk with Christ! It’s time to stop being lazy and it’s time to stop being undisciplined! As the body of Christ, let’s call each other higher! We need to remember to redeem the time, because the days are evil. Sometimes we have to do the hard things in life but that’s part of being a follower of Jesus! God never promised us that it would be easy to follow Him, but He did promise us that He would always be with us.

Did You Armor Up Bro? Ephesians 6

As children of God, we get to make choices. God has given us a free will and we have to remember this when the enemy comes after us.

We get to choose whether we respond like a sitting duck or whether we respond and get up and fight the good fight of faith. What we should be doing is choosing to fight against the enemy from the victory that Christ already won, through His death, burial, and resurrection!

We have a choice, we get to choose. I can choose how much time I spend in the Word of God. I can choose to pray without ceasing. I can choose to allow God to renew my mind through His Word. I can choose to have Him sanctify me through His truth. I can choose to write His word on the table of my heart. I can choose to be led by the Holy Spirit and not my flesh. I can choose to put on the Whole Armor of God daily. I can choose to submit myself to God, resist the devil, and he will flee from me. I can choose to use the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God and fight the enemy back. I can choose to flee from sexual immorality. I can choose to remember that my identity is in Christ. I can choose to remember that He said “It is finished.” I can choose to repent. I can choose to believe in God’s Word and know that with a sure confidence that it does not return void, and it never will. I can choose to remember that no weapon that is formed against me will prosper. I can choose to walk by faith and not by sight. I can choose to be strong my faith. I can choose to fight the good fight of faith.

I can choose all of these things because I am a child of the most high God, and He is the one who says what goes! Jesus Christ is the one who determines what the truth is, because He is the truth, and because He is the truth, we can be sure and know that He is always faithful no matter what! He truly is who He says that He is!

I can choose to remember that He who has started a good work in me will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ. I can choose to keep going and never give up, until I see Him face to face 🔥💯

1 Corinthians 15:57 KJV
“But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
