Taylor Alison Swift. The woman that you are. Words cannot describe how much I owe you for the incredible impact you’ve made on my life.

Growing up, your music had always been all around me. In grocery stores, on the radio, but it wasn’t until I was 13 years old that I started to truly connect with your lyrics. When Lover was released, it marked the first album I stayed up until midnight for, the first release I had eagerly awaited for months.

Each subsequent album gave me something to look forward to, and more than that, they solidified your status as someone that I looked up to. I started a YouTube channel where I could talk about your music with other people that loved it just as much as I did, and posting on social media brought me confidence and a willingness to speak my mind.

I’m now communications major, and just passed my second semester of public speaking with flying colors, something past me could only have dreamed of. I’ve published three books and am working on my fourth, a feat I only accomplished because you taught me that chasing your dreams is worth it in the end.

Seeing you navigate the world in the way you do has taught me more than I can ever describe. Though you may not know it, you and your music changed my life, and have inspired me to want to do the same.

Last night I was watching the first two episodes of the eras tour docu-series, and all I could think was that someday, I want to make people as happy as you do. I want to help people, and let them know that they’re not alone. I want to be able to provide my coworkers with life changing bonuses, and inspire people to make changes in the world.

I hope you know that this is the legacy you’re leaving behind. A generation of girls who have seen what happens when you ignore the word no and refuse to give up on your dreams. A generation who are willing to make this world a better place, filled with magic, connection, and most of all: friendship bracelets.
