My dear Zakiya, all the way from Bangladesh. We first connected when she found my music on YouTube, and somehow, a stranger became family. She’s loved me from miles away—sending me my first pair of jeans, black bindis every year (all my bindis are from her!), and then this beautiful Banarasi on my birthday.

I kept wondering, “Is this for my marriage?” She said, “No bro, no bro!” 😂 My registry wasn’t even fixed then.

My mom told me to wear it on an auspicious occasion, and somehow, it became my registry saree. She couldn’t get her visa to be there, but she was with me in every way. ❤️
