March is Endometriosis Awareness Month, a time to bring attention to a condition that affects an estimated 1 in 10 women worldwide. Endometriosis occurs when tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus, often causing inflammation, scarring, and chronic pain. For many patients, symptoms begin in their teenage years, but the average diagnosis can take 7–10 years. During that time, many people are told their pain is “just bad periods.” But pain that interferes with work, school, relationships, or daily life is not something you should have to push through alone. If you experience severe menstrual pain, pelvic pain between cycles, painful intercourse, or heavy bleeding, it may be worth having a conversation with your provider. Awareness is the first step toward earlier diagnosis and better care. 💛
Recently, we’ve seen an increase in insurance denials for certain labs, testing, and procedures — even when patients have active coverage. Because insurance companies determine benefits based on individual plans, deductibles, diagnosis codes, and medical necessity guidelines, we do not always know in advance what will be approved. If you have concerns about coverage or potential costs, we recommend contacting your insurance provider directly before your visit to confirm benefits for specific services. We understand insurance can be confusing, and our goal is always transparency so you feel informed and prepared. If you have medical questions, we are always here for you 🤍 #womenshealth#obgynclinic#patienteducation#healthcaretransparency#wrenomg
