I'm a high schooler making videos pertaining to historical and modern conflicts, showing changes to the frontlines on a myriad of maps. I currently focus on the war in Ukraine.

For those interested, I'm providing in depth coverage of the Iran war and its fallout in the region on Twitter. x.com/ThetiMapping

I'm very active on X and am open to answering any questions you guys have over there. My main focus is on tracking the frontlines of Israel's invasion of Lebanon, Iranian/Hezbollah rocket/missile strikes on Israel, assassinations of key figures, and drone strikes on Iranian internal security.

I can't lie it's rather disheartening to see the YouTube algorithm completely decimate the reach of my recent videos. I spend way more time researching and map making than I'd nominally have to because I want to be detailed and thorough, but apparently that isn't rewarded in the attention economy.

Please don't misconstrue this, I am deeply appreciatuve of all of you sticking by and supporting the channel, I'll be eternally grateful. However people aren't even being given the chance to watch these videos because notifications and recommendations are being suppressed. So at this point I'm honestly open to doing anything to salvage the situation and change the video formats, I'll also heed some of the advice from you guys in the comments.

Who should be Ukraine's Commander-in-Chief?

My extended thoughts on the American endgame vis-a-vis Ukraine, what do you guys think?

Trump wants to secure an end to hostilities within a framework that would be more favorable to Ukraine. Even though Zelensky still hopes to reclaim all of the lost territories in one way or another, his current stance is an unconditional ceasefire along the line of contact. This directly contradicts Russia's stated war objectives from June 2024 that they've never relented on, despite media spin. Annexation of the 4 oblasts and Ukrainian neutrality are the outwardy stated objectives. Neutrality is a flexible term that can be conveniently interpreted in many ways, with the bare minimum being no NATO accession and no western troop presence in Ukraine, and the maximum being no weapons deals with the west going forward. Such demands are unacceptable both to Ukraine and Trump.

Trump and his foreign policy team have proven they aren't truly pivot to China types. Perhaps if Elbridge Colby had his way there would be no American support or mediation in Ukraine at all. But Rubio, Ratcliffe, Hegseth, and Trump himself all believe in preserving American hegemony in Eastern Europe. Ukraine is viewed as a lucrative buffer providing a degree of separation between Russia and NATO allies in Central Europe. The US wants to Ukraine to remain not only a viable, but an exceedlingly capable military ally that can hold the line against Russia in perpetuity and therefore redirect pressure away from the rest of Europe. A peace deal guaranteeing Ukraine's neutrality would contradict that objective. And cedeing Russia territory without a fight would put them in a far better position to launch another war in the future.

So if Russia doesn't budge, the American position will simply be to drag out the war for as a long as possible. That way the US and Europe will have time to prepare for kinetic action against other Great Powers, while giving Ukraine the bare minimum it needs to chug along and attrit the Russians. On a personal level Trump would prefer the war ends because he wants to take credit for "ending" 9 wars. He wants to flatter his own ego, but not at the cost of altering America's strategic vision for the region, the national security apparatus would make sure of that. Instead of abandoning Europe, the US has actually doubled down on its relationship with the continent under Trump.

The new trade deal binds them together for years with hundreds of billions of dollars worth of capital being poured into investment in civilian industries, energy, and weapons contracts. The ultimate goal is to create a Europe that isn't dependent on any other party besides the US & that will carry the brunt of confronting Russia if and when that time comes, but for the time being it's Ukraine's responsibility. Then the US will have the leeway to focus on East Asia. It's also why Trump is so big on the "Abraham Alliance". He wants a united Muslim front against Iran that will eventually be utilized to counter China. And of course he has his own self-aggrandizing reasons for pushing it as well.

Given the degree to which the YouTube algorithm is stymiying the reach of my videos, I'm interested in hearing any recommendations on how you all think I should change the content format or aesthetics. There's not much to lose by experimenting, so it's worth a try.
