Diary of an Expat Teacher, Mum, Foodie and Globetrotter
This channel is my shout-out to all the wise owls I've met during my 20 year travel around the world as an expat international school teacher, living in 9 countries across 6 continents, learning 7 languages while raising two 3rd-culture-children.
To the people who dropped knowledge bombs, knowingly or accidentally - thanks for adding your stories to the intricate tapestry of my overly privileged life. To the newcomers, welcome aboard! Get ready for tales of how to get into teaching abroad, expat escapades, nomadic noodle-slurping, amid the chaos of being a parent in a world that sometimes feels like it's run by hyperactive squirrels on caffeine.
New long length episodes - Fridays at 7pm GMT.
My everyday life (Vlog) - Tuesdays at 7pm
Short length videos - as they happen.
Live sessions - Sundays at 7pm GMT
Collaborations - To be announced.

Today, one of my mentees in India sent me a photo of a flower she picked—just because she knows how much I love flowers. 🥹
It may seem like a small thing, but it reminded me why I do what I do. Mentoring isn’t just about career guidance or job placements; it’s about connection, kindness, and those quiet, human moments that cross oceans and time zones.
To my dear A.S. — thank you for this thoughtful gesture. You reminded me that even in a busy world, it’s the simple acts of love and thoughtfulness that truly blossom. 🌼

Dear #DiasporaDoodles Family,
I just wanted to pop in and say a big thank you for your continued love, support, and engagement—it truly means the world to me. 💛
This week, I won’t be uploading a new video.
Life behind the scenes has been full—between navigating some transitions, preparing for new adventures, and taking care of personal and family matters, I’ve had to pause, reflect, and simply catch my breath. As much as I love creating content for this amazing community, I’ve learned it’s also important to honour moments of rest.
But don’t worry—I’ll be back very soon with stories, reflections, and the honest, heartfelt content you’ve come to expect from this space. If you’re new here or missed any recent uploads, this might be the perfect time to catch up and share your favourite videos with someone who might need them.
In the meantime, feel free to drop a comment, a question, or even a little life update of your own below. I’ll still be around, reading and connecting. 💬✨
Thanks for your patience, your kindness, and for being part of this journey with me.
With gratitude,
Jae 💫

🌍 10,000 Subscribers – Thank You! 🎉
I’m honestly still in shock — 10,000 of you have joined this vision! Diaspora Doodles started as a diary to help teachers who look like me access international teaching opportunities and change the face of education abroad. It is also a nod to parents bringing up 3rd culture children far away from home and support.
This platform is about more than jobs — it’s about showing students that the world is full of people who look, sound, and live differently whilst helping our own children stay grounded in our culture despite being so far away from the ‘village’. You’re helping make that vision real, and I’m so grateful. 🙏🏽
Let’s keep learning, teaching, and growing together 🌱
📅 Don’t forget — our next Member Meet-Up is happening on June 7th, 11am GMT. I can’t wait to see you there!

During our recent “Thank You to Our Subscribers” livestream celebrating one year of streaming, @omo-space and I each selected a participant from the live chat and one from our membership groups to benefit from our 1:1 mentoring program for free. So far, only Faqih has attended the mentoring sessions regularly.
I’m still waiting to hear from Vivian, who was chosen from my Diaspora Doodlers membership group.
Despite reaching out via email and other channels, I haven’t been able to connect with her.
Vivian, I’ll be holding your spot for one more week before offering it to someone else, as I want to make sure this thank you opportunity doesn’t go unused. If you’re seeing this, please email me so we can begin your 1:1 teach abroad journey. Thank you!
