At Forgotten Weapons I think the most interesting guns out there are the most obscure ones. I try to search out experimental and prototype weapons and show you how they work, in addition to more conventional guns that you may not have heard of before. Lots of people are asking me about the .30-06 and .30 Carbine Thompsons at RIA right now. I have actually already filmed one of the .30 Carbine models, at the Cody Firearms Museum (see below). I've filmed a slightly different model of the .30-06 one; I would love to film the one they have now; hopefully I'll have a chance to do it with whoever ends up buying it.

Sako has released a couple videos formally introducing their ARG - the rifle that is being adopted by Finnish and Swedish military forces. There is nothing particularly novel about the guns (they offer it in 5.56 and 7.62, and with either DI or piston operating systems). Instead of questionable flashy features, the design process focussed on the engineering to make the guns reliable in all environments and to develop the production specs to ensure successful mass production. That's both the hard part and also the important part. Unfortunately, I expect they will be backlogged with military orders for quite some time, so I wouldn't anticipate a civilian model any time soon.
