18-year-old Arpit Jai’s eyes have been donated — after his life was tragically cut short in the Satya Niketan PG collapse.

Arpit, a Delhi University student from Madhya Pradesh’s Dewas, was among the seven people killed after the five-storey PG building collapsed in Delhi’s Satya Niketan. He had returned to Delhi only hours earlier after celebrating Rakshabandhan with his family.

As his family comes to terms with the devastating loss, they have chosen to donate his eyes — ensuring that a part of Arpit lives on through someone else’s sight.

The tragedy has raised serious questions over the safety of student accommodations in Delhi, with investigations focusing on the building’s condition, ongoing repair work and the circumstances that led to its collapse.

The Satya Niketan building collapse has put Delhi’s civic administration under intense scrutiny. The Delhi Government has suspended the MCD Deputy Commissioner, Superintending Engineer, Executive Engineer, Assistant Engineer and Junior Engineer following the tragedy.

At the centre of the political storm is Sanjeev Khirwar, the MCD Commissioner.

Khirwar is not an unfamiliar name in Delhi. In 2022, he was transferred out of the capital after the infamous Thyagaraj Stadium dog-walking controversy, when reports that he used the stadium to walk his dog triggered a nationwide uproar.

Now, years later, he is back in Delhi — as the head of the very civic body facing questions over building safety, enforcement and accountability.

Following the Satya Niketan deaths, ABVP has demanded Khirwar’s resignation, with protesters accusing the MCD of failing in its responsibilities.

A preliminary probe into the sudden altitude drop on an Air India flight from Phuket to Delhi has revealed that the aircraft briefly lost pressure in all three hydraulic systems while cruising at 36,000 feet, triggering the autopilot to disengage and sending the Airbus A320 into a major altitude variation.

The August 4 incident has also raised questions about the fitness of the pilot to command the flight. The pilot-in-command tested “non-negative” for psychoactive substances. However, the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) has so far found no established link between the test result and the hydraulic-system failure or the aircraft’s subsequent altitude drop.

The AAIB has separately recommended that aviation regulator DGCA take action over the misuse of psychoactive substances, while stressing that the technical cause of the sudden altitude loss remains under investigation.

The incident involved Air India flight AI2379, carrying 137 passengers and eight crew members. It was flying over the Kolkata Flight Information Region when the altitude upset occurred. Twenty passengers and four crew members were injured, with four suffering serious injuries and requiring treatment after the aircraft landed in Delhi.

There is not a person in sight, not a house left standing. But what caught my eye and broke my heart was the inanimate objects left behind - containing lived lives within them- like the school and coloring books that belonged to a child who had just finished his homework - or the over turned school bus- I shuddered when I saw that and prayed there were no children in the bus. Reporting from the epicentre of the flash flood in what has been a gruelling, back breaking drive through the mountains and in many ways a soul destroying assignment- from ground zero with Anoop Kumar for Mojo Story.

A self-proclaimed Hindutva activist has made a series of startling claims about the violence at the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP)-led protest in Delhi, including boasting that he allegedly “cracked open” the skull of a protester’s father but never spent a night in jail.

Swatantra Bhardwaj made the claims during a one-hour podcast available on YouTube, while describing an alleged attack on the father of a protester named Nishu at Jantar Mantar.

Bhardwaj claimed the man suffered a severe head injury requiring 60 stitches and alleged that Section 307, the attempted murder provision under the law then in force, was invoked in the case. He further claimed that he was released the following day and “did not even go to jail”, despite describing the victim as being in critical condition.

Explaining why he believed he was able to walk free, Bhardwaj claimed BJP leader Kapil Mishra was his “elder brother”. He made a similar claim about BJP ally and Union minister Chirag Paswan, and even Prime Minister Narendra Modi, referring to both as his “elder brothers”.

“I have everyone’s support,” Bhardwaj claimed.

He also made a bizarre claim about the baton he was seen carrying during the CJP protest. When asked where he got it, Bhardwaj allegedly pointed to his footwear and said it belonged to the Delhi Police.

He then claimed that his baton and other equipment were also from the Delhi Police, adding to a series of provocative assertions made during the podcast about his alleged connections and influence

Gloria Steinem, whose name became inseparable from the fight for women's rights in America, has died at 92. For more than half a century, she wasn't just a voice in the feminist movement, she was its face and its engine: the aviator glasses, the center-parted hair, the unmistakable presence on a thousand stages, from packed auditoriums to folding chairs in community centers.

She died Wednesday at her home in New York City. Her foundation shared the news on social media, saying she "passed away peacefully at her home in New York City, surrounded by some of the many who loved her," and added, "Gloria's near-century on earth were years well-lived, and she continued working for equality until the very end."

What set Steinem apart wasn't just what she wrote or organized. It was where she showed up. While plenty of movement leaders built platforms and stayed on them, Steinem spent decades in motion: campus auditoriums, union halls, rallies, living rooms. She believed, famously, that presence itself was a form of politics. "You can't do it on the phone or on the web," she told the Associated Press in 2015. "You have to be there with all five senses."

That conviction shaped everything from her early undercover journalism exposing conditions inside Hugh Hefner's Playboy Club to her co-founding of Ms. Magazine, a publication that gave the women's movement not just a voice but a masthead. It shaped the countless "Talking Circles" she hosted in her own home, gatherings her foundation says will continue in her memory.

Steinem leaves behind not an era, exactly, but an argument still very much in progress, one she spent her whole life insisting people show up for, in person, together.

India’s Keyaa Kunal Banerji has lifted more than three times her own bodyweight on the world stage, delivering a powerful display of strength at the 2026 IPF World Sub-Junior & Junior Classic Powerlifting Championships in Sun City, South Africa.

Competing in the Junior Women’s 47 kg category, the 21-year-old finished fifth overall with a 280 kg total, but produced one of the standout performances of her campaign in the deadlift. Banerji successfully lifted 140 kg at a bodyweight of just 45.70 kg, earning the silver medal in the individual deadlift event.

Her overall total included a 90 kg squat, 50 kg bench press and 140 kg deadlift. In the deadlift, France’s Ines Herbaux claimed gold with 165 kg, while Ireland’s Blathnaid O’Dwyer also lifted 140 kg but finished third.

Banerji’s performance is more than a medal or a ranking. Lifting over three times her bodyweight on an international stage, she has offered a striking reminder of the power, discipline and determination of women in sport.

The championships, held from August 18 to 29, brought together young powerlifters from around the world. For Banerji, the fifth-place finish and deadlift silver mark another step forward in a sport where strength is measured not just in kilograms, but in the courage to keep pushing beyond perceived limits.

We are at the Chilime Tunnel near the Tibet-China border, where rescue operations are underway to locate hundreds of workers still missing from Nepal’s hydropower projects.

After a gruelling 16-hour journey through pouring rain, mud tracks and treacherous mountain roads — much of it in complete darkness — we finally reached Rasuwa at around 3 am.

Above us, dozens of helicopters are being deployed as part of the ongoing rescue operation. We were able to capture one of them bringing rescue personnel directly to the tunnel, where teams are continuing the search for those still unaccounted for.

“There is always hope. The window of life where people are alive always changes. I have seen people alive weeks after they should have been dead, so there’s always hope,” F. Cole, Operations Director at Crisis Response International, told us.

We are here to document the rescue effort up close — the teams on the ground, the families waiting for their loved ones, and the search for those who are still missing.
