BREAKING NEWS | In a significant de-escalation signal, Iran on Friday announced that the Strait of Hormuz — one of the world’s most critical oil shipping routes — will be fully open to commercial traffic for the duration of the ongoing ceasefire in Lebanon.
The announcement came from Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who said the decision was directly tied to the Israel-Lebanon ceasefire agreed earlier this week.
“In line with the ceasefire in Lebanon, the passage for all commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz is declared completely open for the remaining period of ceasefire,” Araghchi said in a post on X.
The move, seen as a major step toward easing regional tensions, drew a swift response from US President Donald Trump.
“Iran has just announced that the strait… is fully open and ready for full passage. Thank you!” Trump wrote on Truth Social, welcoming the development.
The reopening of the strait — a vital artery for global energy supplies — is likely to bring immediate relief to markets and shipping routes that had been on edge amid fears of escalation in West Asia.

The bizarreness of Donald Trump continues. The American President took to Truth Social to say that "China is very happy that he is permanently opening the Strait of Hormuz" - after enforcing a blockade on the same. He further added that when he gets to China in a "few weeks", President Xi will give him a "big, fat, hug". And of course, he then added all of this with a typical warning so no one really knows what to take of the POTUS seriously and what to just let go.

BREAKING NEWS | In a move that could dramatically reshape India’s political landscape, the Union government on Tuesday (April 14) proposed a sweeping expansion of the Lok Sabha, increasing its strength from the current 543 seats to a proposed 850.
The plan, shared with Members of Parliament ahead of a key session, is tied to a broader exercise of delimitation and representation reform. If implemented, it would significantly increase the number of constituencies across states and Union Territories, marking one of the most substantial overhauls of India’s parliamentary structure in decades.
The proposed expansion is also linked to the rollout of the women’s reservation law, which mandates 33% reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies. By increasing the total number of seats, the government aims to accommodate the quota while minimising disruption to existing political representation — a step seen as potentially easing concerns among current stakeholders.
The proposal is expected to trigger wide-ranging discussions, given its far-reaching political and electoral implications.
