Badu put on a phenomenal performance in Chicago. As almost a lifelong fan she was definitely worth the 2 hour wait.
The concert was set to start at 8pm, doors opened at 7pm giving plenty of time for finding your seat, getting concessions, using the restroom and getting comfy. The is no opening acts/entertainers. The dj played what seems like a playlist from his phone for about 1.5 hours, the songs were good but it was literally just him bluetoothing music with no crowd acknowledgment and most of the time he wasn’t even on stage. The band came out at about 9:35 and The Queen Mother graced us with her presence at about 9:50pm. The concert was great as well as the light show. She preformed tracks from Mamas Gun with a little fun and humor in between. Don’t expect to hear Tyrone or any songs of hers that aren’t on Mamas gun, minus a freestyle or 2. The concert ended at about 11:35pm. All in all, I would’ve went both nights in Chicago if I could’ve. I would love to see her again, I just know that I don’t have to rush.
