We tend to measure a good home by what's in it. Full table, nice stuff, calendar packed with people coming over. Solomon flips that whole idea on its head. He says a dry crust of bread eaten in peace beats a full feast eaten in a house full of fighting.
That's worth thinking about for a second. Solomon isn't against nice things. He's just saying peace is the actual thing everything else gets built on. You can have the fullest table in the world and still feel completely empty sitting at it if there's tension under every conversation.
So instead of asking how you can make your home fuller, maybe ask how you can make it more peaceful. Sometimes that's a hard conversation you've been putting off. Sometimes it's letting a small thing go instead of turning it into a whole fight. Sometimes it's just walking through the door with a different attitude than the one you left work with.
God, help me care more about peace than about how things look. Give me the wisdom to know when to speak up and when to just let something go, so what I'm building at home isn't just full, it's actually peaceful. Amen.
Is there more tension or more peace in your home right now? What's one small thing you could actually do about it today? #Wisdom#Proverbs
This week: texting etiquette, why you're never satisfied, character over charm, where wisdom actually starts, why your mouth needs a permit, and why you're still turning on that hinge instead of walking through the door..... He saw ALL of us coming.
The door was always unlocked. It just needed to actually open. Not stuck. Not incapable. Just endlessly turning on the hinge instead of walking through. Reach out, grab and pull!!!.... oh, and choose to move those feet!
Your words are not weightless. What you say matters, even if you think that it doesn't. There are frequent instances in the bible where our "speech" is addressed because God knows the importance of the words that we say.
Remember we are created in His image. He speaks, and there is life. Follow in his lead. Speak life to those around you. Take a second, or even less, a half a second, before you speak today, especially when an emotion is attached to it. It could change the perspective of the day for the person that you are speaking to. #Wisdom#Proverbs#SolomonKnew#Bible#Devotion
Choose your words like they matter, because they most certainly do! You're planting a garden every time you open your mouth. Choose the seeds carefully. Don't be planting weeds when we are meant to plant fruit.... i love strawberries!
65 videos in and Solomon gave us the starting point underneath every single one of them. Get that right, and everything else has somewhere solid to stand. Start here.
Talent fades. Trends shift. Character is what's still there when the surface changes. Build what lasts.... build what matters... and this isn't just for the ladies bro.
That text you're hesitating to send might be somebody's apple of gold today. Proverbs 25:11 ...A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver.
You should change. You should heal. You should grow. You were never called to remain the old you.
Ephesians 4:22-24 Throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception. Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. Put on your new nature, created to be like God, truly righteous and holy. #MissionMediaTeam#Grow#Heal#newcreature
