I've been planning to update home studio workspace for a while. Collection of hardware synthesizers is growing, and I want to arrange everything conveniently and make it look good on camera during streams. Finding a ready-made solution for my needs is difficult, so I decided to build the desk myself. I already had experience designing a tabletop, and this time I decided to take a more thorough approach. I developed a sketch, ordered 1.6-meter-long slabs, and additional parts for a slanted shelf. These days, you can find materials for almost any task, delivered right to your home. Nothing too complicated. Assembling the desk took just a couple of days. It turned out very well, and most importantly, I saved a ton of money that I would have otherwise had to pay furniture makers for a custom project. This week, I'm going live in my updated interior. I am very pleased with the sound of recent releases - the sound is quite juicy already out of the box. I also recorded fresh radio talks that I am going to use in the next show. This week I am actively using the new functions of Cubase 14. I could not update from ver. 11 for a long time and now so many new features fell on me. First of all, I am pleased with the functions for live. Ring sequencers and randomizators. Various modulators and LFOs. By the way, the Macro-knob works only for one track, so for other tracks you have to use another macro-knobs, this is an obvious drawback, I hope the developers will fix this in the future. I continue to improve the sound of the synthesizers setup and am very pleased with the result, which I want to share with you. New effects and sounds are waiting for you. 👋Great news, Guys. I was able to update my Cubase 11 to the latest version 14 Pro! I was really looking forward to the transition to use the special features for live performances that were so lacking before:
- A new drum track with a ring pattern sequencer and randomization of all possible parameters on the fly.
- Macros, Step sequencers, LFOs, Shapers for automatic change of any parameters on the track.
- Reworked mapping for external controllers, so that my AKAI MidiMix now works correctly with button illumination and mapping occurs in two clicks.
Looking forward to even greater discoveries for sound design and work in general. I'm already preparing new patterns for the performance. With the new Cubase to a new sound. See you on Friday. 19:00 UTC
I was record this stuff in live mode a few years ago and didn't touch the recording for a long time. Although some still ask about: where can I listen hq version of this? Yesterday's comment from E-Mantra inspired me did some with the mixing and mastering and now this sounds much better, I didn't even expect that something could come out of it. Three synthesizers sound so good that they make come back to them after many years. It's a really nice surprise. Thanks for the support, see you Live! Back from wonderful places. Wild nature and the river rebooted my mind. Managed to record a lot of new stuff - atmospheric dub-house jam, noises and random radio conversations. With new strength and ideas we will gather with you at the synth party on Friday at 19:00 UTC.
Hi, Friends. This week I went on vacation to a completely remote place to take a break from the city bustle and home routine. To get new musical ideas under the sounds of wild nature. Here the sun is scorching during the day and at night it is so dark that can admire the constellations and falling meteors. I plan to record a set on SP-404 against the backdrop of the river and maybe something else. Unfortunately, I will not have time to return to the stream by Friday, so we will meet next week! I have long been attracted to the use of some radio signals in music. On the last stream, I used an old analog radio to generate ambient textures - it's very exciting, and most importantly, the result is unpredictable every time. Even more interesting and organically the radio traffic fit into the ambient textures right? Now i have a special radio for this and I can find a lot of interesting and authentic signals, interferences, voices and strange crackling... All this fits perfectly with ambient textures and definitely makes them more lively and warm. Also I build a portable radio-ambient station based on the SP-404mk2 and made a lot of interesting recordings that I am going to use in my music. I managed to restore an old analog radio and remade it for use with a synthesizers setup. Now the signal from radio goes into the Lyra 8 input where it can be processed by internal effects, then into the Zoom MS70 and then into the SP-404mk2 for the final chaos.
